A Report on MILANA-2016 MILANA 2016 – The annual alumni meet of MS Ramaiah Institute of Technology was organized on 27th August 2016, Saturday at the institute campus. Alumni were invited to their respective departments at 4.30 pm. Some of the alumni had arrived earlier to the alma mater. The main program was organized at the Seminar Hall of Engineering Sciences Block of the institute. The first batch of Civil Engineering student’s banner prepared by them was displayed at the venue.
Ms Chaitra, Biotechnology department presented an invocation song. The meet was inaugurated with lighting of the lamp by Shri Tallam Venkatesh, President, MSRITAA and Shri Mahesh Poddar, Hon’ble Member of Rajya Sabha. The other diginitaries present on the dais were Dr. N.V.R. Naidu Principal, MSRIT and Rector, MSRITAA, Shri Jasbir Singh, Vice President, MSRITAA and Shri K Kannan, Secretary, MSRITAA. Former Principals Prof. Y.A. Prahlad Rao and Prof. B. Krishnappa and Retired Professors, Prof. M. Vekattapa Krishnayya, Prof. Shankar Rao, Prof. G A Shareef, Prof. A Satyanarayana, Prof. MPS Reddy, Prof. Madhusudan Rao and Prof Ramesh were also present on this occasion. The program was attended by about five hundred alumni. Principal. MSRIT welcomed the gathering. In his welcome address he also informed about the achievements of the institute and activities of MSRITAA. During the program distinguished alumni were felicitated:

Shri Mahesh Poddar addressed the gathering. In his address, he remembered Prof CR Ramchandran who was very demanding in academics and discipline. He added that the founder late Shri MS Ramaiah had a
passion in building this institute. Each stone had a touch of the founder. He has built up a world class institute which has transformed many students across the country, he added.
Shri RK Jaigopal shared his reminiscences. He stated that most of the students from his batch has achieved distinction and are working at very high positions. He thanked Prof. M Vekatappa Krishnayya whose teaching had him taken to national level. Prof. Arularasu M, Principal, Govt Institute of Technology, Vellore (First batch of BE Industrial Production and Engineering) stated that the alumni is the main contributor. He added that the products of Ramaiah are in the top position at national and international levels. This meet is an inspiration for many. Vice President, MSRITAA Shri Jasbir Singh, in his address, informed that this college has not only given not the knowledge but also the attitude which has made people to perform better in life. He added that he is comfortable to work in any part of the country because of friends in every state. GHe urged alumni to come to college, help each other and students. He informed that several alumni are not in contact and requested to locate other alumni and bring them. He urged that more youngsters should get involved in alumni activities. Shri Tallam Venkatesh, in the presidential address, stated that the association has done the ground work and solicited the support of alumni to take it further. Shri Ankineedu Maganti, Shri Jasbir Singh and Shri Anurag Agarwal has set an example of being large hearted and the Scholarship program successful because of their contribution. He urged students who have taken scholarship and are now doing well can contribute. He urged other alumni to get the contacts of the other eminent members. A good number of alumni are in US. They may also be contacted to contribute to the association. Ours dreams are big but if it has to come alive we need your support, he added. He further informed that his batch (the first batch) of students will be completing fifty years in the next year. A memorable program requires participation of all of them. He thanked all the alumni who are present for this meet for their participation. Students of MSRIT presented a very lively cultural Program to entertain alumni.
Sri C.G. Raghavendra, Jt. Secretary, MSRITAA proposed the Vote of Thanks. All retired faculty members present for the meet were felicitated during the vote of thanks. The meet concluded with dinner.
