February 24, 2015 TO: ALL COUNTY CLERKS/REGISTRARS OF VOTERS (CCROV 150 15) Pursuant to Section 9033(c)(J) of the Elections Code, I hereby certify that on February 24, 20 15, the certificates received from the County Clerks or Registrars of Voters by the Secretary of State established that the REFERENDUM TO OV ERTURN BAN ON SINGLE-USE PLASTIC BAGS. (#1660), has been signed by the requisite number of qualified electors needed to declare the petition sufficient. R EFERENDUM TO OVERTURN BAN ON SINGLE-USE PLASTIC BAGS. (# 1660) is, therefore, qualified for the next statewide general election.

REFERENDUM TO OVERTURN BAN ON S INGLE-USE PLASTIC BAGS. If signed by the required number of registered voters and timely filed with the Secretary of State, this petition w ill place on the statewide ballot a challenge to a state law previ ously approved by the Legislature and the Governor. T he challenged law must then be approved by a majority of voters at the next statewide election to go into effect. The law prohibits grocery and certain other retail stores from providing single-use bags but permits sale of recycled paper bags and reusable bags. ( 14-00 11.)
