Does the phantom student money go away – not connected to Act 46?We have been told that in all likely hood it will go away if there is no union- The state is also banking that there will be less small school grants as there will be larger school districtsIf Wardsboro is already sharing resources with WCSU (a larger pool) would it stand to reason that resources be more expensive when shared between only 3 schools? Some of these resources are not currently being shared through the WCSU and those are the resources that may save us money (ie: one larger audit versus three smaller ones) Don’t believe it would improvement, would decrease local control & democracy. I have found bigger is not better. The control will be by a bigger group- but still more local than a county wide mergerThe merger grant of up to $150k; is this based on 2 or 3 towns merging? If Dover & Wardsboro merge without Marlboro is the grant just $100k? It is a $150,000 grant for two or three schools On March 7, will there be someone at Town Meeting to talk about Articles if people have more questions? It can be discussed at Town Meeting but the study group will not be presenting, it would need to be the representatives from your town that was on the study group as well as your local school board. Other than losing the small school money, are there other major financial losses? Phantom students; and the 8-6-4-2 property tax incentive for the first four years. Could Unified board meetings be held at the same time in each town via video conference to avoid multiple meetings? That has not been discussed but could be presented to the new board and would be their decision to pursue it or notThe towns pay WCSU a lot of money – now every year will that go down if it is only 2 districts?WCSU share is usually based on the pupil count- so it may not go down just because of there being one less district unless additional savings are found at the SU level for they are dealing with less schools/districts eetc. Is there a projection of the increase/decrease for towns within district? That is very difficult to do as we do not know what the new district will offer- we have beenable to project with the incentives and that has been included in the articles that are available on line. Not withstanding incentives for first few years? Will bussing be provided between the 3 towns for elementary schools? That will be a decision of the new district however all three districts do currently provide transportation If a student is denied choice what happens? That will need to be included in the policies of the new district If a program isn’t offered at one school and can’t be offered by board would student be allowed to go to other school for that program? There is currently a law that allows for parents/ students to request to go outside the district for education- that has not changed Don’t we share resources through WCSU?Yes we do, just like Newfane and Brookline entered into a contract to share resources however they State has challenged Boards to see if they could do more-

Will school choice options change? i.e. will a specific school be recognized for our sending school? No- the school choice for middle and high school will stay the same- the only change will be if Marlboro joins and they will have choice for 7-8 grade where they do not now, but they will lose their 7-8th grade program. The only way a specific school can be designated as the School would be by a vote of the electorate, same as it is today. How does this affect sending to private schools 7th – 12th?See above
