The total cost is $2100, Mr. Graves is also asking SVAN and the school to help cover the cost. Katie 1st, Cristen 2nd, accepted and approved by all. F. Water Fountain- there was a miscommunication in the ordering of the water fountain. Louise communicated with Mr. Harrington before he retired, saying we had part of the cost of the fulfilled (PTO pledged $500, Booster club matched that and also donated $500). This left a balance of $1200. The fountain was ordered and installed and now the school is asking us to try and cover some of the rest of the cost so that it does not

have to be taken away from another school project. The fountain is a bottle filler, and is able to be used year round, so it will benefit the community as well as the school. Louise first asked the Youth Commission for a donation, but donating to buy equipment for other agencies goes against their policy. Louise then asked the Rotary Club, who agreed to match a donation up to $600. Louise and Jen A are going to ask other community organizations such as the Knights of Columbus, The Lions Club, etc and see if they are interested in helping. They will report back in March. Review of PTO Projects A. Meeting with Booster Club: The meeting on 1/19 was rescheduled, and Holly was unable to attend that meeting. Next meeting is this Thursday, 2/16, can anyone attend? (has actually been rescheduled for Thursday, March 16th) The Booster Club is selling nice jackets now, and have had help at the ticket selling table from PTO/parents. B. Shoe Drive: Again, the idea of the shoe drive is that we get paid for donating wearable shoes. Some shoes go to foreign countries for women to sell or to moms getting back on their feet, etc. Hoping to collect 3000 pairs of shoes. The Forsey’s have donated space at C&H for us to store the shoes. Hoping to collect again after Feb. break and again around garage sale weekend. Shoes will ship out in June. If anyone has sneakers (for all ages) to donate, give Annette Fordyce (school nurse) first choice because she mentioned there are kids in need of sneakers. C. Oak Mt. Ski Bus: 2 dates left. This Saturday (bus might be cancelled because there aren’t enough kids signed up-’virtual bus’ still gets you a discount if you just sign up with Annette) and the Thursday over Feb. break (2/23). Nicole Valovic will chaperone that day. Bus leaves at 9 sharp and returns at 5. D. High Rollers: Huge success! 85 kids went from grades K-12. PTO sponsored 3 kids. Will probably go again sometime. Upcoming Events A. MS/HS YMCA Night: Saturday, March 11. Northville ‘lock-in’. Bus leaves school at 6 and gets back at 10:30. $10/person includes access to the pool, gym, teen room (foosball, pool table, video games, etc), pizza and a drink. D. March Cabin Fever Ideas 1. Bounce House/Movie Night? For Elementary School. Will talk to Tammy and see if someone is interested in organizing this. 2. Family Night at the Book Fair/Reading Night- Wed. 3/8 Varsity players may be reading to younger kids. Deb Nordyke is organizing. Looking for some bakers to provide treats. E. Cinderella Project: Jenny Crosby was interested in setting up an event in Northville where people donate old prom/bridesmaids dresses for girls to choose from. There is a similar event set up in Perth for 4/11, from 11-1. At the State Farm in Fritz’s plaza. Jenny Rulison-Finch has set it up in the past where girls can come and pick a dress for free. Cristen brought a few girls that past couple of years and found great dresses and had fun. Maybe Jenny C could coordinate with Jenny R if she is interested in helping out with the event? Might be too late now, but maybe a local dress swap for future winterfest/spring fest if anyone is interested. F. PTO Updated Brochure: The online brochure on the school website is out of date. Needs new pictures, new mission statement, new meeting dates etc. Maybe Kim Skyler’s class could work on it? Or have other students work on it as community service. Administrative Reports A. Mr. McFarland (MS/HS Principal)- (not present) Jarrod Campbell was a great success, students and adults alike enjoyed his presentations. Would have him back again. B. Mrs. Reidell (Elem. Principal)-(not present) upcoming event-Ronald McDonald Reading Program and Reading Night (touched on above in PTO projects section). New Business A. Ken Adamczyk of the Youth Council filled us in on some upcoming events. On Friday, 3/24 there will be a father/daughter mother/son dance. (can be aunt/uncle, grandma/grandpa, etc). The event will be from 5:30-8 and will include dinner. They are hoping to take pictures and have them printed out there. Older kids will be volunteering their time. This will be open to Northville and Edinburg Students, as well as home school/community members (younger kids not in school yet).Ken is also organizing the Easter egg hunt this year, with the help of older kids working toward their community service requirements.
B. Future Funding Request- Ken will fill out form...There will be a field day for grades 6-8 with a bounce house, food, etc near the end of the year. Ken will let us know how PTO can help. C. Not PTO related, but if anyone has or can collect soda can tabs for Holly B, she donates them to Ronald McDonald house who gets money for recycling them.
Meeting adjourned by Louise at 7:44 pm
