Greenhills PTC Meeting Minutes November 15, 2017 Attendees: Kelly Beckham, Kirsten Bahski, Jessica Hansen, Emily Wilson, Annette Rowsey, Michelle Shafto, Julie Iskander, Amy Bousfield, Delia Prentice, Christie Heiskell (via Facetime) Approved Meeting Minutes: (Delia) • Minutes from October 11th meeting were approved. Kelly Beckham motioned to approve, Jessica Hansen second. Principal’s Report(s): (Mr. Towne) • Not in attendance Grade Level Update: (Teacher Reps) • Mrs. Shafto (1st Grade)- Finished Report Card, Started 2nd Trimester, Working with Silent E for Reading, Practicing dance for performance in December • Rowsey (Multi Age) Continuing the rain forest. Learning about foods, people, and medicine. The children enjoyed seeing the clip of other children living in that area going to school in a canoe bus. • Bousfield (3rd Grade)- Working on an engineering project to build a structure that can survive a certain event. Working on multiplication. • Assembly Committee- Rowsey o More assemblies this year as budget was a bit larger. Thanks to PTC. o Barney Salsberg (author/signer) coming to do an assembly for the full day on Jan 24th. They will be selling his CD and books. His books have great messages. Who do we find out about signing his TAX FORM? o Jump for Heart- February (possibly Valentines Week) o Box Tails- is a theater group. No date given. o Phil Tolga – Believe will be in March. o Wild Things- No date given, o Planetarium- Came already Proposal Results: (Jessica) • • • •
Garden Proposal- Total 105 Votes- 98 In Favor, 7 Opposed Science Kits Proposa- Total 102 Votes- 101 In Favor, 1 Opposed We can move forward with ordering both. Must order through Monica so get a PO or an actual invoice. Greenhills will pay for it and the PTC reimburses. (Christie)
Proposed Budget Adjustments: (Jessica) • • •
Teacher Start Up- Increased budget due to the increased teachers (Coppa and Mrs. Smith) due to increased enrollment. It increased $400 now totaling $2,700. Harvest Feast- Increased budget due to increase in enrollment. It increased $300 not totaling $1,750. Music Docent- Reallocate the budget to the performance arts, 3rd grade costumes for their performance of Off Broadway so Greenhills will own them instead of borrowing from another school.
Playground Committee: (Jessica/Christie) • •

3 bids have been obtained- Christie is working with her team on them. Next steps: o Identify opportunities for input. Possibly utilizing the multipurpose room for the children to give input on structure’s color, etc. o Meet with District Office to finalize. Hope ribbon cutting will be by May 1st or before depending on weather.
Upcoming Events: (Kelly/Jessica) • Dad’s Club Movie Night (11/16)- All Set, Pizzas are ordered, Cars 3 Movie • Site Council Mtg (11/16)- Tomorrow • Harvest Feast (11/17)- More enrollment this year so ordering more food. Also have small budget to replace the decorations that were falling apart. Decorations purchased will be used every year. • Winter Performances (12/6 and 12/7) Everyone is working on. • EUSD Board visit (12/7) -Hospitality is providing lunch. • Giving Tree deadline (12/8)- Tree is in office. Need to send out more reminders. Not much exposure this year. o Question- Maybe putting outside the classroom again next year. To solve for this year- send more reminders and maybe put outside the Multiage and Kindergarten classrooms. – Kelly to Ask Diana • Author Day (1/24)- Hospitality working on lunch this day. Past Events – THANKS! (Jessica) • Halloween Parade & Partieso Parties- Minimum day was harder, especially for parents with multiple kids. Third grade parents loved how easy the carnival was. The 3rd graders also loved it. o Parade- It was amazing. The band enjoyed coming to Greenhills. They said they felt well received and we were the best audience. Mr. Smith

stated we were the first school that invited the band here. Mrs. Bousfield stated a parent told her the energy of the band touched her to tears. ESF Silent Auction & Gala- Revenue had increased 10% from last year. Greenhills did not have an item that was not bid on when someone looked. Per post it raised over $130k plus. Directory printed and distributed- Done Box Tops submitted approx. $487 (Kirstin and Julie)- Submitted! o Suggestion by Mrs. Wilson (3rd Grade) For more exposure send out a letter stating in bold last time we made $487! o Suggestion by Mr. Smith (3rd Grade) Put a goal out of there to raise money to purchase something. o Suggestion by Jessica Hansen Look into the app. It may give extra box top credit. o Kirsten and Julie to send anything they want to go out to Jessica Hansen such as graphics, letters, etc. Taxes completed and submitted- (Christie) o Significantly better this year. o Booster finance makes things makes it a lot better. They are finding that they can reallocate and spread out the work. They will be getting together in the new year to discuss. o Treasurer and VP of Finance current position are done after this year. Looking for two people to take over. Talk to Christie if you want to more about it. Do not have to be a CPA or an Accountant. Positions are easy.
