Project   Lead    What   it’s   like   to   work   at   Generate:  Generate   provides   a  unique   opportunity   to   apply   entrepreneurial   strategies   and   process   to   building   products.  We   are   a  student­run   product   development   studio   that   serves   as   the   product­centric   organization   within   the  entrepreneurial   ecosystem   of   Northeastern.   The   group   operates   like   a  startup   and   falls   under   both   the  Sherman   Center   for   Engineering   Entrepreneurship   Education   and   Mosaic.   As   specialists   in   product  development,   we   transfer   knowledge   to   the   broader   Northeastern   community   through   all   of   our   programs   ­  speaker   series,   office   hours,   and   workshops.   Generate   is   all   about   taking   lean   product   development  principles   and   applying   them   to   our   internal   design   process   and   our   external   educational   programs.     Role   Description:  Project   Leads   lead   individual   project   teams   on   the   Build   Studio   and   are   responsible   for   the   completion   of  high­quality,   professional   work   for   a  Generate   Client.   This   position   combines   aspects   of   project  management   and   lead   engineer   work.   Project   Leads   act   as   the   liaison   between   Build   Studio   Directors,   Build  Studio   Engineers,   and   Generate   Clients   during   the   semester.   They   are   the   primary   point   of   contact   for  Generate   Clients   in   regards   to   setting   up   meetings,   and   relaying   information   on   project   decisions,  progression,   and   completion.   Project   Leads   actively   encourage   and   support   their   team   in   all   areas   of  technical   development,   offering   their   expertise   and   skills   when   needed.   They   encourage   entrepreneurial  engineering   for   all   members   of   the   project   team,   incorporating   business   concepts   and   limitations   identified  by   the   Generate   Client   within   their   strategy   for   project   completion.  Responsibilities:  ● Lead   individual   direction,   expectations,   timelines,   and   strategy   for   the   project  ●

Interacting   with   the   client   on   a  weekly   basis

Creating   weekly   agendas   for   Build   Studio   Strategy   Meetings 

●

Creating   and   assigning   weekly   tasks   for   Build   Studio   Engineers,   and   assessing   progress 

●

Understanding   and   relaying   the   scope   and   direction   of   the   project   to   the   Build   Studio   Engineers 

●

Encouraging   Build   Studio   Engineers   to   have   input   and   thoughts   regarding   the   strategy,   direction,  and   other   entrepreneurial   aspects   of   projects   beyond   technically­focused   tasks 

●

Completing   engineering   tasks   they   are   most   qualified   to   complete   and   work   with   other   engineers   to  teach   them   and   help   them   improve   in   areas   of   expertise 

●

Working   to   effectively   integrate   individual   systems   and   parts   of   the   project 

●

Working   with   Build   Studio   Directors   and   Mentors   to   prepare   material   for   Build   Studio   Reviews 

  Qualifications:  Generate   Project   Leads   are   expected   to   be   fully   comfortable   leading   small   teams   of   engineers   toward  completion   of   long­term   goals,   keeping   in   mind   technical   and   timing   limitations   for   the   project.  Demonstrable   past   leadership   experience   is   encouraged.   General   technical   understanding   in   the   fields   of  mechanical   and   electrical   engineering   and   software   development   is   required,   based   on   the   assigned   project.  Prior   experience   on   co­op   or   through   other   demonstrable   media   is   suggested.  Generate   Project   Leads   are   required   to   be   an   undergraduate   student   at   Northeastern   University   pursuing   a  degree   housed   within   the   College   of   Engineering.
