Position: Program Coordinator The Alliance for the Chesapeake Bay, a regional non-profit organization based in Annapolis, MD with offices in Virginia and Pennsylvania, seeks an enthusiastic and creative person to join the Pennsylvania staff to lead program development and project management in its efforts to Engage Local Communities, Connect People, and Heal the Land and Water in Central Pennsylvania and throughout the Chesapeake Bay Watershed. The Program Coordinator has the opportunity to bring their individual skills and expertise to the organization to shape future environmental efforts.

About the Alliance: The Alliance for the Chesapeake Bay was founded in 1971. Since its beginning, the Alliance has been in the forefront of restoration efforts in the watershed. The Alliance’s core mission is to protect and restore the Chesapeake Bay and its rivers by building partnerships, engaging communities to find collaborative solutions, and connecting people to the Bay and its rivers. The Alliance also leads a wide array of on-theground restoration projects.

Job Description: This position will support the Program Manager and the State Director on a wide range of water quality improvement projects focused on urban stormwater, agricultural conservation, drinking water protection, riparian and in-stream corridors, and more. The successful candidate should have excellent written and oral communication skills, strong organizational skills, and a basic understanding of water quality and land use issues affecting the Chesapeake Bay watershed. Abilities to form strong relationships and work in partnership with a variety of audiences are essential. The Program Coordinator will interact often with members of the business community, local government, landowners, other nonprofits, and local residents. The successful candidate will show creativity in generating new ideas and problem-solving, as well as project management, leadership and facilitation skills. The demonstrated ability to facilitate the engagement of a diversity of partners and generate consensus on goals and project ideas is a plus. Specific Duties:  Assist in management of conservation projects from concept to completion, including partnership building, budgeting and outreach  Develop and deliver presentations and workshops to the public  Gather and synthesize data and information as needed to build new programs and projects, ensure successful results, and communicate outcomes of work

 Edit and assist in writing grant proposals, newsletter articles and project reports  Recruit, train and motivate citizens and partner groups in restoration work  Manage office administrative tasks and other tasks as assigned Qualifications:  Bachelor degree in relevant field and ideally two years’ work experience in the environmental sector (An advanced degree in a relevant field may substitute for one year of professional experience)  Ability to work independently on multiple projects with minimal supervision as well as part of a team  Effective writing skills  Strong communication skills  Knowledge of social media platforms  Ability to learn and adapt quickly, be well organized, possess strong attention to detail, and have excellent time management skills  Commitment to the overall goals of the Alliance for improvement of local waterways and the Chesapeake Bay Other Desirable Expertise, Interests, and Skills:  Experience working with a variety of environmental stakeholders in the professional setting, including (but not limited to): local government employees, elected officials, businesses, private landowners, academic institutions, local and regional watershed or conservation groups, and volunteers  Knowledge base of: Pennsylvania local government structure; municipal environmental obligations stemming from both the state and Chesapeake Bay Program goals and objectives; Chesapeake Bay issues and their relation to PA land use and local waterways  Experience with the design and/or installation of conservation landscapes and best management practices  Software proficiency desired: Adobe Creative Cloud, especially InDesign and Illustrator; basic understanding of Wordpress website design & management; Microsoft Office; ArcMap 10.1 or higher  Understanding of Pennsylvania ecosystems, trees, and other native plants  Experience writing newsletters, press releases, articles, or other outreach materials  Understanding of basic invoicing and project budgeting Supervision: The Program Coordinator will work under the direction of the Pennsylvania State Director and Program Manager and interact with other state offices in Maryland, D.C. and Virginia. All staff of the Alliance are expected to support strategic planning, program development, and fundraising activities. Location: 3310 Market Street, Camp Hill, PA 17011 Type of Position: Full time (40 hours weekly) with some flexibility to work from home, but also requires working some nights and/or weekends depending on established project deliverables.
