Dear Dr. Menguito: May we invite you, the superintendents, SPED teachers and focal persons of the National Capital Region for a pre-conference on the hearing-impaired and sign language interpretation to be held on Thursday, July 27, 2017, 9:00 a.m. - 12:00 noon to be held at the Conference Room of the Philippine School for the Deaf, F.B. Harrison St, Pasay City. In cooperation with the Philippine School for the Deaf (PSD), the meeting will be organized by the Philippine Registry of Interpreters for the Deaf (PRID), an agency that provides communication accessibility through sign language transliterating and interpreting services which advocate the rights of the deaf and those with hearing impairment. The meeting has the following objectives: 1) Encourage schools to include in their curriculum/program specialization in educating hearing-impaired children which covers: helping families, educators, and social planners to detect early hearingimpairinent among children and youth, and developing an early intervention process; educating those concerned on language development for the lhearingimpaired. 2) Introduce to schools and the public PRID's training programs, ladderized and mobile, in the educational, legal, medical, religious, cultural, rehabilitation and vocational settings.

In this regard, may we request your kind endorsement of the meeting to assure successful participation of those concerned. The meeting hopes to lead to the organization of a major conference this year on hearing-impaired students to eventually enable them to be useful members of society. And very importantly, to heighten the awareness of educators and the public on the need i:o listen to the hearing-impaired or blame themselves for what they will miss. Surely these students have much to say. Dr. Menguito, when the mS:ior conference on hearing impairment and deaf interpretation is organized by the PRlD this year, we will be most happy to have you with us again to inspire participants with your wisdom and concern for this long-neglected sector. That should be the start of a new day for them. Please honor us. Thank you, Dr. Menguito, and we iook forward to your favorable reply and kind endorsement. With our esteem and best wishes.
Very truly yours.
Chairman, Board of Directors
