SC Gjøa is a not for profit Brooklyn based soccer club for young people between 5 to 18 years old. Gjøa is the oldest soccer club in New York and is proud of its Norwegian roots. In 2018 the soccer part of Gjøa will exist 100 years. Gjøa is attempting to cater for all different levels of both boys and girls (up to 18 years old) and has the following programs. ∙ Youth Development Program (YDP) ∙ SC GJØA Travel Soccer ∙ U8 Travel Soccer ∙ U9-U18 Travel Soccer ∙ Premier Soccer ∙ Girls only Soccer
Gjøa is non profit that mainly receives its income through members fees. Little third party income. The club strives to become a professional managed club that can compare itself with a medium sized club in Europe. Currently almost 400 players. Before this number can significantly be increased the management structure and field availability should be strengthened

Most Gjøa teams play in the Cosmopolitan Junior Youth Soccer League (CJSL). Other selected teams play in the NYCSL or LIJSL. Most Players come from areas like ∙ Park Slope ∙ Cobble Hill ∙ Bay Ridge ∙ Sunset Park ∙ The areas around Prospect Park. Mainly economically thriving area.
Improve crucial life skills such as teamwork, leadership, learning to cope with both failure and success, and learning to compete in a positive and productive way. We are committed to an attacking, possession-based style of soccer where each player has the opportunity for many touches of the ball.

Game Day Philosophy Not to win at any cost, but to produce what has been worked on at practice each week and to play in the ‘Gjøa way’.

SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAMME Gjøa’s philosophy has always been to provide soccer training to as many children as possible, regardless their financial possibilities. Already approximately 30 players are currently playing on a scholarship. Expand the scholarship program to get more diverse (race, income and gender) players Scholarship Fund, 2500 USD PP into the club
