This vacancy is created by the August 2011 retirement of Thomas Poe, who has served as Executive Director since 1999.

Role

To serve as chief administrator of the Education Service Center, Region VI and perform all duties and functions required by the ESC VI Board of Directors and the Commissioner of Education. The Executive Director of Region VI provides leadership for the development and delivery of programs and services to: 1. Increase student performance in the region, 2. Promote efficiency, economy, and effectiveness in school district operations, and 3. Support the implementation of statewide initiatives. The Executive Director organizes and supervises staff and manages public funds to ensure that high levels of quality programs and services are delivered to ESC VI clients.

Qualifications  

     

An advanced degree in educational administration or a related field required At least five years successful administrative experience in a public education institution required. Superintendent experience preferred A working knowledge of the role of education service centers in providing programs, products, and services that effectively serve diverse populations and successful marketing of these services The vision to commit to raising student performance Knowledgeable concerning state-of-the-art technology and its role in student learning Knowledgeable concerning the legislative process Positive working relationship with Texas Education Agency and other agencies Demonstrated interpersonal skills which create a climate of openness, caring, trust and excellence in which ideas and issues are freely advanced
