Postdoctoral Research Position in Water Resources University of Oklahoma Dept. of Geography & Environmental Sustainability

Department of Geography & Environmental Sustainability, University of Oklahoma, is seeking a one-year postdoctoral researcher to conduct non-market evaluation of ecosystem services in the US Rio Grande River Basin and assess people’s willingness to pay to protect the river water resources. The researcher will be expected to develop a contingent valuation model in collaboration with the PI (Dr. Jad Ziolkowska) and a graduate student. The researcher will conduct surveys online and travel to selected sites in the Rio Grande River Basin to collect field data (by interviewing municipalities, farmers and ranchers, tribal nations, the Corps of Engineers, power generators and industry, recreational managers), analyze the data and generate results. We seek a researcher with excellent knowledge and skills in non-market valuation, statistics/ econometrics and with outstanding quantitative and analytical skills. Proficiency in written and verbal English is required as well as the ability to work independently (under the supervision of the PI) and with the research team. Start date: October 1, 2016 (or as soon as possible thereafter) Duration: 1 year (a possibility for a renewal might open, but is not anticipated right now) Salary: $60,000 Funding agency: US Geological Survey (USGS) Required qualifications: PhD in one of the following areas: Environmental and Resource Economics, Economics, Agricultural Economics, Ecological Economics, Environmental Sustainability, Environmental Sciences, Operations Research, or a related field
