Part of the reason Sfinks Polska wanted to enter the pizza market was to counter Da Grasso, the largest pizza chain in Poland with over 200 locations. The concept has grown because of its aggressive and comprehensive franchising system, which has allowed it to create a presence in over 100 towns and cities across Poland. All of those locations have the same core menu of 36 pizzas, which include 20 traditional options (though “traditional” in Poland means toppings like corn, cream cheese, and pickles), plus vegetarian, seafood, chicken, and more authentically Italian options. As new pizza chains have entered the Polish market, international brands like Pizza Hut and Domino’s have grown, and restaurants across the country have added pizza to the menu, Da Grasso has been busy updating the brand in order to stay fresh and relevant. The company introduced brighter, “modern retro” designs to make shops more welcoming, while a new slogan – “Pizza Friends” – emphasized a more personal relationship with customers and a place where friends could eat and socialize together.
