RE:   Request for allocation towards Personalized Learning Environments (PLE).    The OT team recently conducted a survey investigating the sensory needs of students and  teachers in learning environments.   277 teachers and principals responded on behalf of their classroom or school.      ● 88% of teachers said they have students who would benefit from a sensory space.    ● Nearly half of all classrooms have purchased tools to address the sensory needs of  students through personal funds (out of pocket, parent donation, etc.)    ● 46% of teachers/principals said difficulty in obtaining materials was the biggest  barrier to meeting the sensory needs of their students.    We would like to  help teachers create enriching personalized learning environments for  their students.      Our plan:   ­We will identify the sensory needs of schools, classrooms, and students through evidence  based research to provide sensory tools and environmental adaptation.  ­We will work with teachers, principals, and community members to facilitate the  development of personalized learning environments that meet the educational and sensory  needs of students.    We look forward to discussing this with you, and answering any questions you may have.    Thank you for your time,    Sincerely,    The OT Team  Proud members of the Blended Learning Steering Committee, Literacy Advisory Committee, and the  Professional Development/Inclusive Practices sub­committees.
