Most helpful customer reviews 1 of 1 people found the following review helpful. readable....but over the top By Sabrina *****spoilers**** I always start with the good first. This book was very well written, well paced, and easy to read. I didn't grow bored and was able to finish this book in a few hours. I like reunited lovers story, and, the author did an excellent job of showing me how this couple belonged together, and how much they loved each other. The love scenes between the leads was hot, but tender, and fit in really well within the context of their relationship. The prologue, where the author describes the protagonists in love as teenagers, was well done and perfectly depicted what it feels like to be in love at that age. The author really made the reader understand the desperation the hero felt in wanting to reconnect with his first (and only) love. I could buy the reason the hero felt he had to flee with Crystal. For one, he's just a kid, so I can't hold stupidity and impulsiveness over him. If he really thought he got the girl pregnant, and he was afraid her father would hurt her, I can see why he left town. I don't know why the hell he couldn't send an apology note to the heroine for FIFTEEN years. Yes, when you are nineteen or twenty, and broke, I understand and sympathize. When you are twenty five, thirty, thirty two....less sympathy. But, maybe he thought she had got along without him and was trying to stay away for noble reasons. I actually loved that once the hero finally started looking for Bliss again, and found out she had never married and was free, that he moved part of his business to her town and was

determined to be near her. I loved his persistence, and his refusal to let her go again. And he did it in a sweet way that didn't come off as creepy, stalker alpha male. I liked that the heroine wasn't cruel to him for reasons of pride (which would have been understandable) but admitted she loved him, and tried to move slowly into a relationship with him. She was confused, and still hurt over his abandonment, but she talked to him, was open and honest, and their relationship progressed in a believable way. I don't understand why he just didn't explain what happened fifteen years ago, and instead said "what does it matter now?". Um, really!! You abandoned her for another woman, and she should just shrug it off? If she was the hero in a harlequin presents novel, this would be the explanation for years of cruel, alpha a-hole behavior on her part. But, minor point, and didn't really interfere in a sweet and compelling love story. The reason this review is a three and not a four....too many crazy villains with too many varying goals and crazy soap opera melodrama. Did Bliss' dad really have to be an pedophile? Did Bliss really have to be a bastard? Did Bliss' dad have to the father of Crystal's (imaginary?) baby? Did everyone have to die at the end? And do all villains have to have lots of kinky sex with everyone? You have one guy who wants to kill to marry Bliss, two women who want Sebastian, crazy parents, inane ghost hauntings, a guy who wants Sebastian, and a Dominant pedophile US Senator with presidential aspirations. I was surprised there wasn't an amnesia plot, and an identical evil twin. Geez, you don't have to throw the whole kitchen sink at the book!! And there are other weird plot points, with a committee that wants to throw Sebastian's modeling agency out of town, a dead girl in New York that somehow got into porn and died, a fraudulent partner that wants to marry Sebastian, OMG!!! And to clear up all this crazy melodrama, how about a murder/suicide? Too much. I had a hard time rating this book. I loved Sebastian and Bliss. I liked both their characters and I really felt that they were in love and fated to be together. I loved the artist colony and the people who lived there (esp. Venus). I would have probably rated this book a five if it had half the melodrama. But, all the melodrama and the seemingly endless cast of villains with confusing goals was too much. I was confused, the resolution was too pat, and with all the plot points, too much was glossed over to be satisfying. For example, Zoya was a major player in the plotting, but towards the end of the novel, she was gone. And you didn't really have time to wonder about her, because everyone was killing someone, or attempting to kill someone, for some reason I couldn't keep track of. At the end of the novel, I was actually worried that there was something wrong with the water in that town since everyone seemed to be trying to kill someone. Still, it was compulsively readable, so I figure that deserves three stars. 1 of 1 people found the following review helpful. Hard to believe By Maria Uribelarrea Can't be a "feminist" if you let yourself be pushed and overwhelmed like our heroine is in this book. Hero good looking but ..... Just too pushy and demanding. Good sex. 0 of 0 people found the following review helpful. The kind of read for when you're in a weird mood... By Lala S. The story started out great with a tug at the heart string. Then it all went downhill from there. It may have been a reflection of the time but the reasoning and the characters were too strange to comprehend. A lot of angst. It reads like an 80s teen movie. The villains were all just wackos (read ICKY). Three stars because it kept pulling me to read to the end. Which was a disappointing end.

Loose ends and unsatisfactory for a romance genre. See all 6 customer reviews...
