Here is a story that's long overdue By Smitty Hinson Here is a story that's long overdue About some dragon bustin' cowboys Now let me review... You might have asked yourself from time to time Will there still be cowboys in 22 aught 9? Well this here story that I just read Confirms that there will be - we ain't all dead! This Buck Johnson feller who I read about Is a heck of a cowboy and pretty darn stout. Got hired by Karposh - this reptilian feller On the planet Terul...boy this is gettin' interstellar! On the planet Terul there's not a horse nor a cow And a deplorable lack of tobacco, coffee, and good cowboy chow. The main cowboy work on said chunk of rock Is bustin' out dragons - the Terrullians' preferred stock. Now Kaposh had built himself a mighty big spread But when Buck found out...Wow - he was ready to pump some lead!
Well, a spoiler this reviewer does not want to be But when Buck rights an injustice, it's something to see. And Buck isn't alone on this adventure in space His earthly sidekicks Snort Jones and Skeet Evans Were there to help him keep pace. Buck Johnson dragon wrangler By Betceeb It's a space age wrangling cowboy adventure full of spills thrills and not so how'd ya do good times for Buck and the boys. Ready to be back on the saddle and rustle up some dragons or trouble. Let's keep ridin'! 1 of 2 people found the following review helpful. An OK read. By A. C. Chitwood I found this short story to be well written, no grammar errors leapt out at me while I was reading it. I did feel it could have been better. It starts in the middle of an action scene and then after the action describes how the character got in that predicament. That sort of storytelling does bother me, I feel that if you were going to tell the full situation in the first place why make it more confusing than neccessary? But that is my personal preference. I also felt that while the ending might have been immediately gratifying, I don't think it resolved the issue in the long term. That was dissapointing. There are dragons in this but I wouldn't call this a dragon story, the main characters are human and it reads much more like a western. I was intrigued by the sentient aliens on the planet, but the author doesn't really go into detail about them. Overall I enjoyed the story and do recommend this for fans of short stories. I'm not sure that I would recommend this for dragon fans, but if you enjoy westerns then I would recommend you read it. See all 4 customer reviews...
