Ware was born in Lixnaw, County Kerry, Ireland, in 1860, and immigrated to America in 1883 to live in Fitchburg, MA, before moving to Boston. In her eighties, blind and unable to walk, Ware spent the remaining sixteen years of her life living with the McManus family on Temple Street in Fitchburg. Affectionately known as "The Nana in the Chair" to the McManus family, Ware told stories of 19thcentury Ireland and early 20th-century Boston to McManus and his siblings every day.
