By Jose Bermudez Update: Vol. 1 No. 10 is also missing Eliphas Levi "The Key of Mysteries" that is 306 pages of content! Not good at all. If you get this volume you would also have to purchase "The Key of Mysteries" as edited by A. Crowley if you want to have a complete set. Because of this I am going to lower my grade to only two stars since we don't have a complete No. here. This is an on-demand printing of Frater TS edition of Aleister Crowley Equinox. Frater TS edition is
an adobe (PDF) edition. It is not a fascimile of the original Equinox volume 1. Frater TS edition was type by Bill Heidrick. The original Bill Heidrick version was just a text file without any illustrations at all except for ascii representations of the original graphics. However Frater TS re-edited that version formating the text as close as the original equinox, adding appropiate fonts like hebrew or enochian and adding the actual images. He even went as far as adding color to many images and reproducing the original advertisements present in the original equinox. Somebody must have upload the pdf files created by Frater TS to createspace.com and they got printed in a unauthorized softcover edition. I order the 10 books of volume one, the Bravo ebook edition. It is the edition that portrays a cover with an outer space theme. This print has a nice quality or feeling to it. The text is high quality and dark, the pages feel like good quality paper and all of the illustrations and graphics are there, as well as Frater TS. notes. The illustrations were printed in either black and white or grey scale, including the pictures that Frater TS. presented in color are depicted as gray images. This is not an ocr text, it was actually re-type and error proof corrected by diverse individuals, although I am sure there have to be misspellings somewhere, every book ever publish would have those. Some issues I did found (and the reason why I did not gave it a five star) are the page numbering in most volumes where mistakenly printed to the inside of the books, one volume seems to be missing the plastic film that protect the cover, and no. 3 came with the first few pages detached, bent and badly cut. However by logging back to my account with amazon I was able to request a return and amazon immediately allowed me to print a UPS label for a UPS pickup free of charge, they also immediately order another copy to be delivered to me in two days. So I would have preferred if this print of the Equinox got the color pictures as portrayed by Frater TS. pdf. version. And if the page numbering was display correctly. Some pages did not even had any page numbers at all! But having this in a book format that I can actually display in my bookshelf and read anytime without having to worry about the battery charge of my mobile devices is great. If I were to print all those pdf myself (at home or at Staples) it would have cost me much more than the $150 or so that I had to pay for this printed edition. So I would conclude that I am a happy buyer since I have save a lot of money and got in return a product of very good quality (although not excellent). 0 of 0 people found the following review helpful. Adequate for the student, but not a replication of the original edition By Walter Five As it has been pointed out, there are some typographic inadequacies, but these will stand as a servicable Equinox set for the budget-minded student. Yes, this edition has a few typos not found in the previous print editions. That ruins it for me. Furthermore, none of the illustrations are included. But I *do* understand the appeal of a paperback Equinox edition, and owners report this edition is somewhat satisfactory.There have been relatively few printings of the Equinox until recent years. The original 1st Printing from a century ago, the Weiser 1972 2nd Printing, the 1978 3rd Printing, the 1992 4th Printing, the 1996 2-volume set (all Weiser), the Mandrake & Holmes hardback, and the Mandrake and Holmes paperback. Although unwieldly, the 1996 edition has an additional 36-page compilation addendum of Crowley's notes and corrections taken from handwritten margin notes and copy-editing marks that he made in his, and occasionally in his students' copies. These are of some interest, but not enough, in my opinion, to recommend that edition over any of the 10-volume hardback set. The two most recent by-the-volume on-demand paperback and hardback editions have errors not found in the previously mentioned sets, BUT they are in-print and affordable, if not recommended.
