Substance abuse treatment has three main components:
A mental or emotional health problem can be a short term reaction to a stressor (a loss, painful event, illness) or a more long term illness. If the situation does not improve or if the symptoms of distress are interfering with other aspects of life, assistance from a mental health professional may be needed.
1) Residential (Level III.V): Treatment for adults in a 24-hour structured setting.

Outreach Outreach extends services to individuals who do not access services through traditional avenues. Pathways assures culturally competent programming to all of our communities. Advocacy: Assisting clients in working with other human/community service agencies.
Junkman/Knoebel Center Transitional Housing: The JunkmanKnoebel Center is a 25-bed men's and women's transitional housing unit developed by Pathways Behavioral Services. Located in Waterloo, Black Hawk County, the JunkmanKnoebel Center is the only transitional living program specifically designed for persons in recovery from alcohol and/or drug addiction residing in northeast Iowa.

Fees and Costs for Mental Health Services Are paid by the individual, insurance, United Way, gifts, donations and county funds via contracts with the County Boards of Supervisors.
Fees and Cost for Substance Abuse Services Substance Abuse Prevention: Most substance abuse prevention programs are Federally, State, or locally grant funded. There will be minimal or no charge for these services. OWI/DUI Class Pathways offers DUI classes for those picked up for Operating While Intoxicated. The fee for these classes is consistent with fees state-wide. OWI/DUI Screening Pathways offers OWI/DUI substance abuse screenings for those picked up for Operating While Intoxicated. There is a set fee for OWI/DUI Screenings that is consistent with fees state-wide. Substance Abuse Treatment Fees may be on a sliding fee schedule based on client income. Accepted
