Pastoral Council Mission Statement The Mission of the Corpus Christi Pastoral Council is to promote the work of Jesus Christ in our community by assisting the pastor in proving pastoral planning for the parish that fosters a Catholic Community of Faith, Worship, and Service.
The Council’s Purpose To explore the pastoral reality, including its relationship with the neighboring parishes and the Local Catholic Community. To advise and counsel the pastor, and make recommendations to him for promoting the best interests in the parish. To be a channel of communication within the parish and the community at large.

Membership Requirements v Be a member of the Roman Catholic faith who has received the Sacrament of Confirmation v Be at least eighteen years of age v Be in good standing with the church v Be a registered and supporting member of Corpus Christi v Be committed to prayer, study, listening, and dialogue v Be committed to giving the time needed for participation v Be aware of and comply with the Parish Conflict of Interest Policy v Be elected to the council v Be certified as completing the Diocesan VIRTUS training by the beginning of the term (September)
Possess the Following Gifts v Have a desire for spiritual growth in oneself and in the parish v The eagerness to participate in parish decisions about its direction v The willingness to listen, speak openly and honestly, and to work towards consensus v Posses the integrity in articulation what one has heard and what one believes v Have the commitment to cooperate with flexibility and openness with people and ideas
Unlike parish staff, the pastoral council is not a group of experts in catechesis, liturgy, pastoral care, or education. The council’s primary gift is practical wisdom. It is made up of parishioners who have a vested interest in the life and development of the parish and want to help the pastor.
Discernment Process v The council members shall be chosen through a parish wide selection process from parish laity v It will consist of 12 members, each serving for one 3 year term v A member may not serve more than 2 consecutive terms v The council meets once a month unless requested by the pastor
