We have had three open meetings with Fr Seamus Enright the leader of the Parish Mission. This has been of great value for the CALTRA CHURCH COMMUNITY – Coming together - thinking & searching together for what is important for us ; not just leaving it to the missionaries to bring everything “ready made”. Many are looking forward and feeling responsibility for it. The presence of a good number of young people has been very positive. Our next meeting is Monday 3rd Feb.7.30pm Here is a summary of the preparation so far. THEMES FOR DIFFERENT DAYS DURING MISSION – these are not decided yet , but our community is asked to think on what is best for us.
COMMUNITY - all the groups in the Parish & in the Church would be acknowledged & celebrated
BELIEVING IS A GREATER CHALLENGE FOR US TODAY
REMEMBERING THE DEAD: We discussed this without deciding. We are good at this already / turning up for Masses funerals, Graveyard etc. So should we focus on other aspects of our faith that we sometimes forget
RECONCILIATION maybe on Ash Wednesday
YOUTH NIGHT - With a group of young people leading this
FAMILY- family life, prayer in the home.
HELP WITH LIFE’S DIFFICULTIES SOME THINGS TO DO BEFORE THE MISSION
Sarah (Mission team member) will meet young people on 3rd Feb
Visit all the homes in parish inviting parishioners in end of February
Volunteers put up posters/ road signs- 18/19 Feb.
Missionaries come Sat /Sun before the mission to preach SOME THINGS TO DO DURING THE MISSION
Visit schools- have a Mass with all primary schools
Visit the sick in their homes
All- night vigil in church- people coming to stay a while by Station Area
Organise a cup of tea after each celebrations in the church
