FOUR REMINDERS FOR THE PHYSICAL OUTCAST Pastor David Beatty | Sunday, March 19, 2017 Luke 17:12-19 12 And as he entered into a certain village, there met him ten men that were lepers, which stood afar off: 13 And they lifted up their voices, and said, Jesus, Master, have mercy on us.14 And when he saw them, he said unto them, Go shew yourselves unto the priests. And it came to pass, that, as they went, they were cleansed. 15 And one of them, when he saw that he was healed, turned back, and with a loud voice glorified God, 16 And fell down on his face at his feet, giving him thanks: and he was a Samaritan. 17 And Jesus answering said, Were there not ten cleansed? but where are the nine? 18 There are not found that returned to give glory to God, save this stranger. 19 And he said unto him, Arise, go thy way: thy faith hath made thee whole.

_____________________________________________________ _____________________________________________________ _____________________________________________________ A. He can supernaturally restore 12 And it came to pass, when he was in a certain city, behold a man full of leprosy: who seeing Jesus fell on his face, and besought him, saying, Lord, if thou wilt, thou canst make me clean. 13 And he put forth his hand, and touched him, saying, I will: be thou clean. And immediately the leprosy departed from him. Luke 5:12-13 (cf 2 Kings 5)
B. He can let life take its course 17 If it be so, our God whom we serve is able to deliver us from the burning fiery furnace, and he will deliver us out of thine hand, O king. 18 But if not, be it known unto thee, O king, that we will not serve thy gods, nor worship the golden image which thou hast set up. Dan 3:17
2. _________________ HEALTH IS NOT GOD’S END GAME “Dying healthy is not God’s purpose for my life.”
_____________________________________________________ _____________________________________________________ _____________________________________________________ A. My aches remind me that I woke up with a purpose As for me, I will behold thy face in righteousness: I shall be satisfied, when I awake, with thy likeness. Psalm 17:15 22 …His compassions fail not. 23 They are new every morning: great is thy faithfulness. 23 They are new every morning: great is thy faithfulness. 24 The Lord is my portion, saith my soul; therefore will I hope in him. Lamentations 3:22-24
B. My aches remind me of the real life to come For we that are in this tabernacle do groan, being burdened: not for that we would be unclothed, but clothed upon, that mortality might be swallowed up of life. 2 Corinthians 5:4 (cf Job 19:26)
3. MY HEALTH DOESN’T DETERMINE MY _____________ “I can still make a difference regardless of how I feel.”
_____________________________________________________ _____________________________________________________ _____________________________________________________ A. I’m useful to God despite my aches I returned, and saw under the sun, that the race is not to the swift, nor the battle to the strong, neither yet bread to the wise, nor yet riches to men of understanding, nor yet favour to men of skill; Ecc 9:11
B. I can realize the truths of the Bible in a meaningful way Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord, and in the power of his might. Ephesians 6:10 Therefore I take pleasure in infirmities, in reproaches, in necessities, in persecutions, in distresses for Christ's sake: for when I am weak, then am I strong. 1 Corinthians 12:10
