OVID TOWN BOARD Regular Monthly Meeting MAY11, 2016

The regular meeting of the Ovid Town Board was called to order at 7:00pm by Town Supervisor Walt Prouty, Also present were Councilmen John Hubbard, Erik Holmberg, Mark Beardsley, Joe Borst, Book keeper Donalie Kelly, Deputy Town Clerk Michele Vangalio, Highway Superintendent Jack Wickham, Town Attorney Steven Getman, members of the press and other interested citizens. Minutes of the April 13, 2016 meeting were approved, as written, with a motion by Councilman Beardsley, a second by Councilman Borst and approval by all. Highway Superintendent Jack Wickham presented his report. Jack reported on a bridge inspection done on the Morgan Road Bridge. Discussion was also had regarding the roadside mower. With a motion by Councilman Beardsley, a second by Councilman Borst and approval by all the Board authorized the purchase of a John Deere roadside mower in the amount of $93,777.20. Jack also presented his Transfer Station report. The Town Clerk’s Report and moneys collected for April were accepted into the record. Board Members received the Bookkeeper’s report. Supervisor Prouty presented his report. Planning Board Chair Al Deming reported on the activities of the Planning Board. Councilman Hubbard presented his reports regarding EMS and Fire Departments. Councilman Beardsley presented a report on the Assessment Department. Councilman Borst reported on activities with the Transfer Station Committee. Councilman Borst presented his reports regarding the Highway Department. Discussion was had regarding the Town Web site. Councilman Holmberg reported on the progress he had made. With a motion by Councilman Hubbard, a second by Councilman Beardsley and approval by all the Board authorized Councilman Holmberg to proceed with the design of the new web page.

Councilman Hubbard reported on a complaint regarding a barge docked on Town property at Sheldrake Pt. With a motion by Councilman Hubbard, a second by Councilman Beardsley and approval by all the Board requested the Clerk send a letter to the owner instructing him to remove the barge from Town property prior to May 20th. Councilman Hubbard reported that the first meeting of the steering committee on the comprehensive plan held May 5 at 6:00pm. The next meeting is scheduled for June 22nd at 6:00pm. A special presentation was made by the Board honoring the South Seneca Lady Falcons basketball team for their athletic success for a State Championship. With a motion by Councilman Borst, a second by Councilman Hubbard and approval by all Resolution 10/2016 was approved honoring the Team. A team trophy and individual plaques and a copy of the resolution were presented to the Team. . Further discussion was had regarding the Emergency Numbering Signs. Changes presented by the Planning Board and the Town Attorney were presented to the Board for their review and further discussion at the next meeting.

Following the Audit of the bills, Vouchers #135-167 were approved for payment with a motion by Councilman Holmberg, a second by Councilman Borst, and approval by all, for Abstract #5 for $21,885.40. Supervisor Prouty adjourned the meeting at 8:12pm with a motion by Councilman Hubbard, a second by Councilman Borst, and approval by all. Respectfully Submitted,

RESOLUTION TO HONOR THE SOUTH SENECA LADY FALCONS

Whereas, The 2015/2016 South Seneca Lady Falcons have been crowned the New York State, Class C Champions with a record of 24 and 3, and Whereas, the Town of Ovid Board wished to congratulate the team members: Emily Lavarnway, Mackenzie Kenyon, Bailey Minges, Skylar Shaulis, Kelsey Shaulis, Jade Parsons, Laura /Wyckoff, Sarah Albro, Elisia Panipinto, Hannah Podgorny, Mary Kate Badalamenti and Coaches Heather Mott, Bob Mott and Joe Mastracy and Manager Morgan McGonigal on their athletic achievements Resolved, that the Town of Ovid Board hereby congratulates the 2015/2016 South Seneca Lady Falcons on an outstanding season.
