Awakening Freedom Tour in Topeka May 3 Pray for the Awakening Freedom Tour to Stir the Hearts of Topeka Christians
Neil Mammen
Sam Brownback
Donna Lippoldt
The Awakening Freedom Tour comes to Topeka Bible Church on Saturday, May 3, from 9 am to noon. There are some who believe we have a political problem in America. The organizers of the Awakening Freedom Tour believe it’s a spiritual problem. Admission is free but registration is required at CultureShield.com. The faith of our Founding Fathers is what launched this exceptional nation. Revisionist history has neglected to inform us of this, so one goal of this conference is to set the record straight. Neil Mammen is an author, apologist, physicist, international speaker, and engineer by day. Neil will take his topic from his book, 40 Days Toward a More Godly Nation. How do we turn our nation back to God? God has judged every other nation when they turned away from His moral laws. Is our nation due for punishment and correction? How do we reduce poverty, crime and child abuse? The Bible has the answers to all of these questions and most of them point directly to the Church.
Governor Brownback is passionate about the spiritual history of Kansas. He will be sharing inspirational stories about our Kansas heroes. Kansas has a rich history of fighting for freedom. We can once again rise and be a light to the nation. We cannot move forward in our legacy if we don’t know our heritage. Donna Lippoldt will be speaking on the Key to Equipping & Mobilizing Believers. Donna is the National Day of Prayer Coordinator for the state of Kansas, National Governor’s Prayer Team Leader for Kansas, and serves as Director of Culture Shield Network.
National Day of Prayer is Thursday, May 1 On April 1, we begin our annual prayer emphasis covering each day in prayer for the 30 days that lead up to the National Day of Prayer. If your church only participates one month of the year, this would be the month to do it. Go to TopekaORT.org to sign up or email to
[email protected]. If the Church of America will cry out for mercy, we can see the moral, economic, political, and social decline of our nation turned around and God’s kingdom established here. When Abraham Lincoln declared a national day of prayer, it was his hope that “the united cry of the Nation will be heard on high, and answered with blessings, no less than the pardon of our national sins, and the restoration of our now divided and suffering Country, to its former happy condition of unity and peace.” Prayer is our only hope. National Day of Prayer observances will take place on Thursday, May 1, in Topeka at the statehouse during the day and at Community Church in the evening. Please mark your calendar.

International Ministry Started by Topekans Editor’s Note: Co-founded by Topekans Brett and Jaelle Durbin, the Trash Mountain Project began in 2008 as a ministry to a community of people living next to the trash dump in Tegucigalpa, Honduras. The ministry has since grown to multiple locations around the world. Pray for them. The following is an excerpt. On our first trip to Honduras we had the opportunity to meet with a family that lived on the side of the trash dump just outside Tegucigalpa. They lived in a shack of wood scraps and “treasures” found among the garbage. The smell that surrounded their home was worse than anything we’d ever experienced, produced by the multiple soiled diapers and wild dog feces that lined their dirt floor. Despite the condition of their home, the family was beautiful. It consisted of a grandmother, father, mother and three young children, all developmentally and physically delayed due to malnutrition. The couple had also lost a child one year earlier to starvation, and appeared to be expecting another. As we spoke, the mother embraced her one-year-old child, still unable to support his own head. She attempted to nurse him, although it was evident that she was not producing enough milk for him to thrive. Her husband, a man that appeared to be in his early thirties, had not forsaken his family for selfish gain. He remained with them, covered in soil and trash remnants from difficult days working in the dump. Unable to read or write, they understood the power of God’s written word, and had a tattered copy of the Bible lying open within their one-room home. They had also collected and hung broken religious icons from
among the trash, aware of the power of the Lord they illustrated. Together, despite their horrific circumstances and the lack of tangible proof that their situation would ever improve, they were a light among the darkness. Their faith was a shining message of Christ’s never ending hope and promise to all who believe. Upon returning home to our plush American existence, we began to fully realize the great significance
of the Lord’s ultimate sacrifice. And thus, Trash Mountain Project was born; an organization not only dedicated to spreading the message of the affliction of children and families within trash dumps around the world, but also for the purpose of encouraging believers to walk along side of those suffering. Together, we will join them as Christian family and provide for their most eminent needs with the purpose of creating disciples honorable of the Lord. We are so happy to have you with us on this life-changing journey. In Christ, Brett and Jaelle Durbin, Co-Founders
