Orr Modernization Project Update – 7/14/2017 Prepared on: July 14, 2017 Location: 2200 Minnesota Ave SE Ward: 8 Project Budget: $46.9M Design Builder/Architects: cox graae + spack architects Project Manager(s): Matt Flocca Project Status: Construction Construction Start Date: February 15, 2017 Project Completion Date: Summer 2019 General Project Updates ● 100% new construction which, when completed, will replace the outdated open space school. This project will be the first major renovation/construction that Orr has had for several decades. There is a long history of project delays that have caused contention and distrust of D.C. government. This project mobilized on 2/15/2017. ● The building design is complete, we have achieved an estimated GMP (guaranteed maximum price to build the building), and conducted value engineering to get the plans within budget. Project Status ● Summary of Work Completed From 6/30/2017 to 7/14/2017 date. o Continuation with excavating site and hauling off of excess soil. o Proceed with Cast-in-Place Foundations. ▪ Cast-in-Place Foundations - Concrete that is deposited in the place where it is required to harden as part of the structure of a building. ●
Work Scheduled From 7/14/2017 to 7/28/2017 o Foundation placement in progress across the the entire site o Continuation of underground plumbing o Continuation of underground electrical work o Placement of concrete walls (near Minnesota Ave.) o Foundation to grade waterproofing o Begin demolition of sidewalk and level temporary parking lot with new stone o Begin waterproofing
