Third Sunday in Ordinary Time 25/26th January 2014

First Reading: Isaiah: 8:23-9:3 Psalm Response: The Lord is my light and my help. Second Reading: Corinthians: 1:10-13 17 Gospel: Matthew 4:12-23

This weekend we hear of Jesus exciting message to “Follow Me,” a call that each of us receives personally. The way in which we ‘respond’ is particular to each of us. Rest assured that God has a vocational path in front of us all. We might not always stick to the best route but we’ll get there confident in the knowledge that we walk alongside others and so often carried by Christ. We pray for the gift of courage to answer our calling with an open heart. I spent years trying to duck the net but it was the best decision I ever made to ‘finally’ respond to God’s call to the priesthood. I just needed to shut up & listen to God & there’s no better opportunity than our Holy Hour each day. (Fr David)
