October 31, 2008 To Whom it May Concern I am writing this letter to highly recommend Kara Redding for a teaching position. As both a parent of three children and an educator myself (I am a law professor at Baruch College/CUNY) I can confidently say that any school and any child would be lucky to have Kara as a teacher. I know Kara because she babysat my children last year after school. At the time I had 5 year old twins and an 11 year old daughter. As you know from Kara’s CV, she has a 3.9 GPA and is extremely intelligent. What may not be evident from her CV is how wonderful she is with children. She is extremely patient and kind and relates very well to children of all ages. She is also incredibly responsible and hardworking. I was especially impressed with Kara’s creativity and how much she taught my children. Kara is a talented artist and taught my children how to draw. She taught my younger daughter to write her name in Japanese and told all my children all about Japan. She also taught my children about Minnesota and different parts of the United States. She would turn chairs into buses and use paper plates as steering wheels and pretend to drive the children around the country. My older daughter (then 11) told me she used to get off the computer and come downstairs when Kara was babysitting to see what fun activity she was doing with the twins. Kara was also wonderful at talking to my older daughter about issues in middle school. Kara has a full-time job and no longer baby-sits for us on a regular basis but my children talk about her all the time and really miss her. A few weeks ago Kara babysat on a Sunday afternoon and my younger children were literally standing at the door jumping up and down with joy in anticipation of seeing her.
