News Release Barrhaven School Principal named one of Canada’s best January 28, 2015

15.01

Ottawa - Jim Rogers has been named one of Canada’s Outstanding Principals by The Learning Partnership. Principal Rogers is known throughout the Ottawa Catholic School Board as a kind man, a highly effective principal, and an instructional leader. Jim initiated positive changes in each of the three schools where he has served as principal. Student success has been the hallmark of Jim’s career as principal. In his current school, the grade 3 writing scores have climbed from 86% to 98%, and grade 6 math scores from 67% to 80%. Jim has been described as a leader who models and mentors others to use creative problem solving that considers the dignity of each stakeholder, helping them own their part in the solution. Also known for innovation in communication, Jim has championed the use of social media as a tool to connect students, staff, parents, and community. To help students learn global citizenship, Principal Rogers has been a key advocate of developing partnerships to help the less fortunate members of the school community and the world. At the core, Jim’s schools become places to nurture and care for each and every child so that child can succeed. Principal since 1999, Mr. Rogers is currently the Principal at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton School in the Barrhaven area of Nepean/Ottawa. About The Learning Partnership The Learning Partnership is a national charity dedicated to building stakeholder partnerships to support, promote and advance publicly funded education in Canada.
