Catholic Board elects new Chairperson, Vice-Chairperson December 2, 2014

The Ottawa Catholic School Board has elected Trustee Elaine McMahon as Chairperson of the Board for the coming year and Trustee Betty-Ann Kealey as Vice-Chairperson. The Board’s Annual General Meeting was held Tuesday, December 2 at the Catholic Education Centre. Chairperson McMahon is new in her role as trustee but well known to the Board as a long-time teacher and is the Past President of OECTA. “I am looking forward to continuing to work tirelessly for Catholic education. Why Catholic schools exist will be self-evident by our actions,” said Ms McMahon. Betty-Ann Kealey brings her long time experience as a trustee, former Vice-Chair and Chair of the Board to her role as this year’s Vice-Chairperson. “I am ready to meet the challenges ahead and look forward to working with the new Board of Trustees,” said Mrs. Kealey. Chairperson McMahon is the Trustee for Zone 6 – Knoxdale-Merivale/College. Vice-Chairperson Kealey is the Trustee for Zone 7 – Kitchissippi/Bay. Director of Education, Julian Hanlon, presented the 2014 Director’s Annual Report. “We continue to move forward with our Board Priorities: Success for Students, Success for Staff, and Stewardship of Resources. I want to thank all the trustees, staff and parents for supporting our endeavours through the year to fulfill our Board’s Mission,” said Mr. Hanlon. The Director’s Report is online at http://annualreport.ocsb.ca/ Archbishop Terrence Prendergast presided over a Celebration of the Eucharist before the Inaugural Meeting.
