REGULATION FOR RESEARCH ACTIVITIES OF UNDERGRADUATE STUDENTS OF MULS One. General

1.1.

This regulation is followed to deal with issues such as organizing and financing, selecting

or awarding the best research work or report for bachelor students of MULS. 1.2.

The purpose of regulation is to provide opportunity the Bachelor degree students with

doing experiment, carrying out research works, obtaining methodology, improving their professional ability.

Two. Organizing, planning and performance monitoring for Research Activities of Undergraduate Students of MULS 2.1.

Planning and coordination of research activities of undergraduate students are executed

through the faculties, branch schools and research institutes. 2.2

Research activities of undergraduate students shall be carried out based on scientific

and technological projects, subjects, faculties, research institute of laboratories and local, research and training Units. 2.3

The research activities shall be supervised and coordinated by supervisors, project

coordinators, head of departments; research institutes laboratories and local research and training units. 2.4.

Research activities topics shall be announced finally by the respective professional

departments to the students for their information and selection by the first half of October every year. Research methodology for topics selected by students shall be discussed and approved by worker of research institute, scientific representative at the department meeting. 2.5.

The scientific secretaries of the schools shall be responsible for the registration,

arrangement and monitoring of research activities of undergraduate students. 2.6 The research activities of the undergraduate students can be organized as follows: a. to participate in scientific technological project, basic research activities and contracted work to be conducted by branch schools and research institutes. b. to study and attend scientific club for designing and technology as per the approved program.

c. to perform laboratory experiment and field test as per the approved methodology from professional department. d. to give a report regarding their research activities during the Scientific conference to be held by MULS, branch schools and public organizations. e. to prepare and present research activities and test under graduation works. f. to carry out researching activities are to search, collect the information, develop data and make conclusion approved topics by the professionals departments and its units. 2.6

Result and performance of research activities are discussed for the decision to be made

by Scientific Board of the main and branch schools.

Three. Awarding and Evaluating of research activities of undergraduate students

3.1 Awarding of research activities of undergraduate students is organized as a scientific conference by dividing into three stages. First conference of research activities shall be held at respective professional department and second stage of the conference shall be organized in research institute in last half of March. Selected two research activities shall be submitted to the Main Commission. A Joint Conference shall be conducted first half of April every year. 3.2 Representatives of the Main Commission including scientific board, International Cooperation Office, Division of Academic Policy Coordination, scientific sectaries of branch schools and research institutes shall participate in the joint conference for best awarding research activity. The following indicators shall be considered for selecting of speeches. These include: a.

Research activity’s significations;

b. Usage of research and test methodology; c. Knowledge of professional theory and practice; d. Usage of modern technology and e. Ability of speech. 3.3 Three best speeches selected from the speeches of the Conference of research activities of undergraduate students of MULS shall be placed with three prizes as under: First prize, one speech –certificate with MNT 600000 Second prize, one speech – certificate with MNT 500000 Third prize, two speeches, papers - certificate, MNT 300000

University and branch schools will encourage and support the Winners of the Joint Conference of Research Activities of Undergraduate Students of MULS to involve foreign and domestic scholarship.

Four. Financing/funding of research activities of undergraduate students 4.1

0.02 percent of total amount of the student’s tuition fees of concerned schools includes in

the financial budget of MULS for research activities of undergraduate students. The amount of funds spent on the undergraduate student's academic year and budget of next year is prepared by the Scientific Secretary and approved by the director of each branch school. The budget approved by the concerned director shall be submitted to the Scientific Council within on June 10th annually. The source of finance indicated in the section 4.1 shall be spent on required materials to conduct research activities in according to the approved methodology, getting references and renting facilities. It shall be regulated in accordance with the section 2.1-2.5.
