More than 60 years of conflict in Myanmar has led to a significant problem of landmines leading to suffering among civilians. There are no accurate figures on how many landmines that are contaminating Myanmar. The last years reporting from the Landmine Monitor has indicated the country to be among the top three most affected nations in the world in regards to the number of reported accidents per year. Discussions on how to address the problem with land mines and other explosive remnants of war (ERW) are on-going amongst the government and the ethnic minority groups. Norwegian People's Aid (NPA) is one of the largest humanitarian mine action INGOs in the world, with significant activities in other countries in South East Asia (Cambodia, Vietnam, Laos and Thailand). NPA has been working in Myanmar since 2004 mainly focusing on peace and democracy. In 2012 NPA also established a mine action department to conduct survey and clearance of areas contaminated by landmines and explosive remnants of war. MAIN TASK AND RESPONSIBILITY The Non-technical Survey (NTS) Team Leader (TL) is responsible for the process of mapping areas contaminated by landmines and explosive remnants of war as well as the command and control and the performance of the NTS team members. The TL shall ensure that the team members perform their tasks in a safe, efficient and effective manner in accordance with the NPA Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) and the Myanmar Mine Action Standard.

Plan and organise NTS daily tasks in cooperation with the NTS Supervisor, Liaise with local authorities and other stakeholders, Manage the NTS Team operations, Ensure the maintenance of standards and discipline, Complete survey reports, sketches and maps, 1

Ensure all activities undertaken comply with NPA SOP and the MMAS, Complete and submit all forms related to NTS, Provide all documentation to the NTS Project Manager, Report to NTS Supervisor, Any other tasks as directed by the NTS Supervisor.
QUALIFICATION & EXPERIENCE • • • • • • • • • •
High School Education, Qualified in computer skills such as Word, Excel. Knowledge of AutoCAD and GIS program are preferable, Have sound analytical, interpersonal and some mapping skills, High level of both spoken and written English, Combatant background is preferable, Driving license. Ability to act independently to identify and analyze problems and recommend effective solutions. High level of social communication skills and good skills in team-work Ability to motivate and engage your team The position is based in the field over periods of several weeks, so you need to be fit for travel and the different conditions in the field.
