Wolfpack & Tiger Rules:
Be Safe Be Responsible Be Respectful
Bus Safety We are having a few safety issues on the school buses. All students who ride the bus were given bus rules at the beginning of the school year (page 13 of the Parent/Student Handbook). This was to ensure parents understood the rules and reviewed them with their child so each child underBe Safe! stood what was expected of them to ride the bus safely. If your child is being unsafe on the bus they will receive a bus referral. One referral is a reminder/warning and is sent home. Two referrals will be another warning and a call home by the classroom teacher to make sure the parent knows about their second referral. Three referrals will be a suspension from riding the bus for a day. After three referrals the school will have a meeting with the family to create a safety plan for their child to be safe on the bus. There is only one bus driver and a lot of children on the bus and we want the bus ride to be a pleasant and safe experience for all children. (The bus rules can also be found on our website.) Clothing Donations Needed Both schools are in need of sweatpants for students who need a change of clothes during the day. We always try to contact parents first for a change of clothes, but sometimes they can’t bring them in so we always like to have emergency clothes on hand. Takena needs sizes 4-7, while Central needs sizes 7-12. Thank you so much for your help! Drop-Off/Pick-Up Student Safety This is a reminder to all parents when dropping off or picking up your child at either school to please try to use the school side of the street whenever possible. If this is not possible, please use the crosswalk and walk your child across the street to and from your car. This is especially important at Takena where we have our youngest children. It is starting to get darker earlier and with some foggy days and it is very difficult to see children crossing the road. We want to make sure all students are safe and learn how to cross roads safely.
Safety First!
Inclement Weather: It won’t be long before the bad weather is once again upon us, so here is a review of our inclement weather procedures. When the decision has been made to close school or delay the start, we rely on local radio stations, television stations, and FlashAlert for notification to staff and parents. Closure and delayed start information will ordinarily be broadcast by 6:30 a.m. This information will also be posted on the district website at www.albany.k12.or.us/delaysclosures.php. If you’d like to have an e-mail or text message sent to you, you can register with www.flashalert.net. Here is a list of our local radio and television stations… FM Radio Stations: KFLY FM 101.5 KLOO FM 106.3 KOOL FM 99.1 KRKT FM 99.9 KSND FM 95.1 (Spanish)

IMPORTANT Please do not depend on a phone call to our office for school closure information. Our office does not open until 7:15 and if school is closed there will be no one in the office to provide the information you seek. Thank you!!!
After School Plan Changes: If you need to change your child’s after school plan for the day, you will need to notify the office. You can send a note in the morning or you can call the office before 1:45 p.m. Notes are delivered to the classrooms shortly after that. If you need to change your child’s after school plan permanently, you will need to come to the office and complete a new Student After School Plan form (or you can request one be sent home). Only those listed on the Registration Card are allowed to pick up students. Student safety is always our main concern, so we are very strict regarding their Get Connected… after school plans!
