The Bees’ Bulletin Park View Elementary November 2014
Cold Weather is upon us... We encourage all of our
students to come to school dressed appropriately for the weather of that day. Please assist your children in choosing clothing that will keep them warm in the cold weather. Students are expected to go out to recess when the temperature is above 20 degrees or if it is not raining or blowing.
Like Us On Facebook Shorts, sandals and sundress do not adequately protect students from the cold.
It is helpful to write names in your children’s jackets and coats. This way we can return lost items to their rightful owners. If your child has lost a jacket, coat, or any other item, please look through the Lost and Found bins located in the cafeteria.
We post many great things that are happening at Park View on Facebook. We want to share these fun events with families and friends of our students. Just find us on Facebook and like us. Then you will be including in these wonderful posts. Not only will you enjoy seeing the pictures and videos of students participating at school, but it is a good way for you to keep updated on coming events.
Office Policies and Procedures Checking Students Out at the End of the Day: Every minute of instructional time is valuable to our teachers. We are asking that parents please try not to check their children out during the last 15 minutes of the day. It becomes very difficult for teachers to teach
when there are so many interruptions due to the large number of students being checked out. Phone Calls: The office is happy to get important messages to students when you call. To minimize class interruptions, we will not call students to the office to come to the
phone, except in rare emergency situations. Dropping Off Items: The office will make sure items dropped off from home are taken to students. We ask you not to take the items to the classroom. Thanks for understanding!
Thanks for attending SEP conferences. It was wonderful to have so many parents attend. We appreciate your support.
Reminders Picture Retakes—Nov. 5 Thanksgiving Break November 26—28 Veteran’s Day Assembly November 11th. Students are to wear Red, White & Blue “It Pays to Read” calendars needs to be turned in for October.
November’s Value is Cooperation Each month we focus on a value as a school.
October’s value was Responsibility. Each class at the end of the month chooses two students who were outstanding at representing that value to be students for the month. During the month of November you could help at home by reinforcing and recognizing your children when they make efforts to cooperate with others.
“Bonkers For Boxtops”
“Cold and Flu Season”
Thanks for supporting “Bonkers for Box-tops!” We collected more than 9,000 Boxtops. Third Grade was the big winner! They will enjoy a bubble gum ice cream party for their prize. Money earned from our Box-tops will go to help fund our “It Pays to Read” program. A special thanks to Shanell Carroll and the student council for cutting, counting and organizing. This was a huge job! Keep saving those Box-tops, we will have another contest in the Spring.
There are a lot of cold and flu germs circulating in our community at this time. By keeping sick children at home, the chances of spreading the illness is greatly reduced. If your child shows any of these signs while they are at school, we will notify you immediately so that you can take them home until they have recovered.
