THE MARLIN MESSAGE It seems like yesterday our children were returning to school. Now we’re making plans for Thanksgiving. I’m sure when our families gather around the Thanksgiving dinner table, there will be a long list of things for which to be grateful. With that in mind, I would love to share with you a few of the reasons I’m so thankful to be a part of Luther Jones Elementary School. I am thankful for the incredible amount of support from families in our school. From the support of our School-wide fundraiser, to the PTA’s Cookie Dough Sales, to Jonesfest, it always amazes me to see how generous our Luther Jones families are with their time and contributions. Each of you make it possible to fund programs that directly support our scholars. I am thankful for the PTA members who serve on a PTA committee, volunteer at school, or attend PTA meetings. You are the backbone of our school. I am thankful for the beautiful children we serve. Their love, their smiles, and their simple appreciation make everything we do worthwhile. I am always amazed at the hard work done by our scholars. It is great to see all of their work lining the halls and to see the thought processes they make daily! I am thankful for the talented teachers we have here at Luther Jones who give of their hearts each & every day to make a difference in our scholars lives! Have a Happy Thanksgiving! YOU CAN, TWO CAN! FOOD DRIVE It is time once again for our annual Share Your Christmas food drive. The Luther Jones Student Council is asking all scholars to join with KIII-TV 3 to collect cans of food. This will provide for families in need in the Corpus Christi area. Our motto is “You can, Two can!” Our goal is for every scholar to bring 2 CANS of food to school each day starting NOW! Remember, if you would like to donate money rather than bringing cans of food, you may donate $5.00 instead! That equals 25 pounds of food! Please support the Corpus Christi Food Bank, and together we’ll make the holidays happy for everyone!

November 16th-December 1st The Luther Jones Christmas Ornament Contest will be underway starting on Thursday, Nov. 16th. Scholars may create their very own original, beautiful ornament that will be displayed on our Luther Jones Christmas Tree. There will be a KG/1st grade winner, a 2nd/3rd grade winner, and a 4th/5th grade winner who will receive a gift card to Walmart. All ornaments entered in the contest are due no later than Friday, Dec. 1st. Judging will take place on Monday, Dec. 4th. Please include your name & grade level on the ornament or on a label attached. Thank you!
