Curriculum, teaching and learning at BHS What do you need to know about it? What our curriculum looks like? How the children will learn? Why we choose to do it this way?

What Is It?

How will the children learn? 

The PYP provides an opportunity for learners to construct meaning around a range of concepts/big ideas

Traditional academic subjects are part of the programme, skills in all areas are taught but mainly in the context of a unit of inquiry.

Skills are valued, where learning does not fit within a unit of inquiry it is taught through stand alone units of inquiry. E.g. number in mathematics

Children learn through curiosity – encourage them to ask questions and to explore ways of finding the answers to their questions.

This is called inquiry based learning

Teachers guide the learning
