A Word from the Principal... Alpine's Got Talent is this Tuesday! Dress Rehearsal will be in front of the school at 1:45. The real show will begin at 6:30 that night in OUR SCHOOL GYM! FIELD DAY Volunteers Needed We are still in need of our parent volunteers for field day on June 4. If you are able to volunteer in the morning or even for a shorter amount of time, please contact Jason Snyder at
[email protected] or Rachel Tommy at
[email protected]. Library Books Please be sure to help you child locate and return all library books. Students should have books returned by THIS TUESDAY, May 29. Box Tops We will continue to collect box tops as it is an easy way to generate extra funds to support our school and yearly activities. Please remember to cut them out and turn them into your child’s teacher monthly. As we enter the summer, please be sure to save them and bring them to school in September. Student(s) of the Week: These students have been nominated for being a leader in their classrooms and demonstrating what it means to be their BEST: Donna Smith (5th Grade, Mrs. Sherwin) Emilio Campos (3rd Grade, Mrs. Johnston)
Knights’ Summer Challenge We are excited to announce our 5th Annual Knights’ Challenge Summer Learning Program for students going into grades 1-8 for 2018-19. Students will use Edgenuity’s Compass Learning Odyssey® to participate. Your children took an NWEA MAP test in Reading and in Math this spring that will provide their current individual levels in those areas. Compass Learning sets up folders of lessons and activities in the students’ online portfolio. There are activities in Math and in Reading for students to work on over the summer months. It is extremely important that students have this opportunity to work on Math and Reading concepts that will help them be even more successful in the 2018-19 school year. Login information and more details will be sent home in your child’s report card. Knowing that summer is an important time for family fun and activities, we have set up some rewards for our Knights’ Challenge Summer Program. Students reaching the goal of working 900 minutes in Reading and Math Folders (scoring 70% or better) using Compass Learning between June 9 and August 24 will be invited to attend a celebration during school hours at the 3-Mile Project in September. Students participating for 1000 minutes or more will also be entered into a Grand Prize Drawing. Prizes include gift certificates to local retailers. We hope your children choose to participate in our Summer Learning Knights’ Challenge!
