Message from the Headteacher Wednesday was an amazing day with the sun shining, children smiling and a lovely family atmosphere for our Cradle Hill CP School sports day. We are all tired but happy at how it went, with lots of positive feedback from you, which is great. We do try to get a balance of team spirit, good sportsmanship, competitiveness and a chance to display a variety of skills for our pupils. Huge thanks to Mrs Hooker and Miss B Parks for their organisation and imagination in coming up with the activities and the best way to organise classes. Thank you to all of you for coming along, we were thrilled with the turnout and we know how much the children appreciate you being there. We have been busy recruiting new staff who joining us in September. Two of them, Miss Smart who will be joining Year 1 and Mr Simmonds who will be joining Year 6 managed to come along for sports day. Reports will be coming out to you on 7th July and the children will have a class swap morning to meet their new teachers on Monday 10th July. So far all of our new teachers are able to join us on that morning. Don’t forget to come along to the Summer Fair after school next week. I look forward to seeing you there. Kind regards, Mrs Maureen Fairhead

Should you wish to join in, or have any questions, please contact our yoga instructor Catherine at [email protected] or call 07901683577 with your name, your child’s name and their age as September and a contact number or email address. PLEASE NOTE: By providing these details you are consenting for either the school or yoga teacher Catherine, to contact you in response to your queries and to give information on how to book a 6-week term. Places are limited so register your interest early! There will be a FREE TRIAL family yoga class at the Summer Fair on Friday 23rd June.

Sports Day On Wednesday we held KS1 and KS2 sports day. We were very lucky with the weather and it was lovely to see so many parents and carers coming to watch and support. There was a wonderful buzzy atmosphere and is was fantastic to see the children across all year groups having fun, supporting each other and participating in physical activity. We would like to say a big thank you to all the staff and a huge congratulations to all the children on their sporting achievements.

KS1 KS1 children participated in 7 fun events. These included long jump, an egg and spoon race, 100m sprint, 2 obstacle courses, a sack race and hurdles. All children enjoyed all of these events especially crawling through the tunnels and rolling the tyres up the hill.

KS2 KS2 children participated in a variety of different skill based events that also had a hint of traditional sports day aspects, such as, an obstacle course which involved an sack and egg and spoon. These 8 events also encourage fair play, sportsmanship and the encouragement that physical activity is a healthy lifestyle. The water events were especially a big hit as it helped keep the children cool. Well Done to Einstein who were the winning house and all the children who ran in the relay and long distance.

Swimming Year 4 and 5 have completed their swimming lessons at Seaford Head pool. The children enjoyed developing their technique, stamina and water safety skills. Swimming is a fundamental life skill and it is very important as we live so close to the sea. Please continue to practise these skills as a family to ensure your child is safe when swimming. Some Year 6 children have been chosen to participate in an intensive week of swimming to develop their confidence and skills. These letters will be going home soon. We would like to say a big thank you to all the parent helpers who helped walk the children to the pool.
