Another beautiful faith story from Ryleigh Jane Lerch, who was confirmed on May 7th. My family has been Lutheran for a long time. My Dad’s side of the family belonged to the Bellevue Lutheran church for many, many years. God and faith have always been an important part of our lives.

VBS July 31-August 4 evenings. Look for registration in this newsletter, or please see Chrissy French.

ELCA Youth Gathering, 2018, Houston, Texas 4 students so far. Registration begins in September, but fund-raising will begin in the near future. We would love to have a couple more students, so please contact Chris Freeh or Pastor Chris if you are interested – ASAP. Thanks!

My parents, my sisters and I went to St. John’s in Port Clinton for 14 years before we came to St. Paul’s 5 years ago. I was baptized when I was 1 year old and have been going to Sunday school and confirmation classes there and at St. Paul since I was little. My parents have helped me a lot with my faith journey by teaching me all about Martin Luther and encouraging me to always go to God with my problems. When I think of Jesus, I think of many things but mainly I think of someone who sacrificed His life for all of us. He suffered so we didn’t have to. I sometimes have to remember that God is in charge when things aren’t going my way. This is something that I struggle with in my faith. I find joy in my faith by sharing it with others. Jesus makes a difference in my life with my struggles and joys by always being there for me. I am happy knowing that He is there for me in good times and bad. I try to let Christ’s light shine through me by being a good person. I try to always be kind to others even if I feel like sometimes they don’t deserve it or are unkind to me. I try to think about the positive traits that someone has instead of the negative ones. I think that’s what Jesus does with all of us. I believe that God has given me the gift of patience. Everyone always says that I am very laid back and patient. My parents call me the “ peace maker” because I am the one who always tries to break up fights with my sisters. I often do things like letting them have the last scoop of ice cream or sit up front in the car even if I want to. I always want to see people happy & I think that is the gift God gave me. My favorite verse is 1 Corinthians 13:4-8. “Love is patient, love is kind. It doesn’t envy. It doesn’t boast, it is not proud. It does not dishonor others, it is not self seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts. Always hopes, always perseveres.” I really like this verse because it is beautiful. I think it is how everyone should try to live their life. Sometimes it is hard not getting angry at someone we love or thinking of ourself instead of them. If we remember what this verse says and strive to be like this all of our friendships and relationships would be so much better. Actually, the world would be a much better and happier place too if we all lived by these rules.
