School is closed for Good Friday, Easter Monday and Easter Tuesday. Easter Tuesday is a holiday by law for state and state integrated schools in New Zealand. This means schools must close on Easter Tuesday. The two short weeks make it a bit of a muddle for school and I’m sure for many parents and caregivers as well. I think a lot of people prefer the years when Easter is combined with the school holiday breaks. This morning the senior student group, looking at beehives, and I went to visit Concord School. They have had their beehive for one year and said that it had been very beneficial to students learning and understanding. We are eagerly awaiting the response from a major funding provider, on our application for financial support, to have our swimming pool lined with a membrane so that it can be operational again. Fingers crossed for a positive outcome. The BoT and staff are determined to get the pool operational again for use in Term Four. We will be going to the media in the next two weeks in an effort to get some more major financial support. Scholastic NZ is our sponsor so Carisbrook School can be part of the ‘Duffy Books in Homes’ programme. The Duffy programme is a great programme that results in all students receiving around six free books each year. The cost of sponsorship is over $5000.00. We take this opportunity once again to thank Scholastic NZ for their ongoing support. We are having a book fair here at Carisbrook School during the week of the 4 th – 8th April. Parents and caregivers are invited to come along and purchase books from a wide selection of Scholastic books. The Book Fair will be set up in the school library. More specific timings will be shared in next week’s newsletter.
Resilient
The Duffy Theatre group performed for all our Carisbrook students yesterday morning. The performance was literacy based and our students as always, enjoyed the opportunity to view the show.
