State Indian Museum Presents Special Native American Basket Weaving Demonstration on May 2 SACRAMENTO, Calif. – California State Parks and the State Indian Museum are pleased to present a special Native American Basket Weaving Demonstration with Dixie Rogers, Karuk, on Saturday, May 2, 2015, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Museum guests will be mesmerized by watching Dixie as she skillfully demonstrates how to use a variety of materials and techniques while sharing Native stories and showing basket artistry. Dixie is a talented and respected basketweaver who served on the California Indian Basket Weavers Association Board of Directors and is the great-niece of renowned weaver Florence Harrie who demonstrated her skills at the California State Fair for many years.
The special demonstration is free to Museum guests with paid admission: $5 for adults, $3 for youths ages 6-17 and free for children five and under. The State Indian Museum is open from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. and is located at 2618 K Street in Sacramento.
