New Date Set for Public Meeting on Preferred Alternative Site Design for Kings Beach State Recreation Area SACRAMENTO, Calif. – The California Department of Parks and Recreation (DPR) and the California Tahoe Conservancy (Conservancy) are holding a public meeting to solicit comments on an effort to upgrade recreational facilities at Kings Beach State Recreation Area (Kings Beach SRA). The original date, scheduled for Wednesday, January 18, 2017, has been rescheduled to February 2, 2017. Some of the proposed enhancements would be made to the pier, playground, restrooms, picnic areas, boat ramp and parking area. The effort reflects an approach by DPR and the Conservancy to renovate Kings Beach SRA over the next 20 or more years. The state recreation area is located along the north shore of Lake Tahoe within the community of Kings Beach. It encompasses about 14 acres and provides public access to more than 1,000 feet of the Lake Tahoe shoreline. This popular Northern California destination is home to many special events, such as music festivals, paddlecraft competitions and Fourth of July celebrations. The proposed enhancements are outlined in a preferred alternative site design, which will be unveiled at a public meeting on Thursday, February 2, from 6-8 p.m. at the North Tahoe Event Center, 8318 North Lake Boulevard, Kings Beach (96143). The deadline to submit feedback on the proposed project is Wednesday, Feb. 15, 2017. The meeting will consist of a presentation followed by opportunities to ask questions and provide feedback in small group discussions. Comments on the preferred alternative will be used to prepare the preliminary general plan and draft environmental impact report (EIR) - an EIR/Environmental Impact Statement (EIS) will be prepared for the Pier Rebuild Project. These documents are expected to be released for public comment in summer 2017 and presented at public meetings. Detailed information on the meeting and the proposed enhancements, including detailed interactive maps of potential elements of the general plan, online and downloadable surveys,

and additional information about how to stay involved in the process can be found at www.parks.ca.gov/plankbsra. Persons with disabilities needing reasonable accommodation to participate in public meetings are invited to contact Marilyn Linkem at (530) 525-9523. ### California State Parks Provides for the health, inspiration and education of the people of California by helping to preserve the state’s extraordinary biological diversity, protecting its most valued natural and cultural resources, and creating opportunities for high quality outdoor recreation.
