Breakfast/Lunch Policy 2017

The Lisbon Community School District Nutrition Department is a self-operating program. In order to maintain financial stability and equality of all lunch paying students, policies regarding meal accounts are being adopted. Each student has a computerized meal account through the School Dining System. Parents/guardians can monitor their school meal account at any time. Parents/guardians must pre-pay money into the student’s meal account via online payments made through PaySchools, bringing in a check or cash, or mailing money directly to the Lisbon Community School District. To keep meal prices reasonable, the Nutrition department needs to keep negative balances to a minimum. Parents/guardians receive low balance notifications via email on a daily basis or can access student information through their Power School account. Low balance letters are also sent out monthly to the address registered in the School Dining system. The Nutrition Director will also send a personal email if there is no response from the low balance notification or low balance letters. Beginning January 2017, if there is a deficit of -$50 or more in a family meal account, 7th through 12th grade students associated with that family meal account will not be allowed to eat school breakfast, lunch, or purchase Ala Carte items. An alternate lunch will be offered to the student consisting of a soy butter sandwich, a fruit and milk. There will not be an alternate breakfast offered. As soon as the negative balance is paid in full the student may resume eating breakfast and the lunch items on the menu. Any accounts K-12 that reach -$100.00 will be subject to small claims court. Any fees incurred as part of the collection process will also be the responsibility of the parent/guardian. Students in grades AK-3rd will not be allowed to purchase milk with their afternoon snack if they have a deficit of -$10 in their family meal account. As soon as the negative balance is paid in full the student may resume receiving afternoon milk. All fees and charges for school meals are the responsibility of the student’s parent/guardian. Free/reduced applications are available throughout the year on the district website under the nutrition tab or in the District Office. Applications must be completed at the beginning of each school year or whenever there is a decrease in income. Any charges incurred until a new application is approved are the responsibility of the parent/guardian and must be paid.
