2017 SUMMER OPPORTUNITIES Summer Internship New Castle United for Youth Town of New Castle and Youth to Youth Eastern States Conference July 28‐31, 2017 Bryant University, Smith ield, Rhode Island Apply for one or both of two great summer opportunities for high school students available through New Castle United for Youth, our new federally funded community‐based youth prevention coalition. NCUFY works t o reduce substance use in our community through collaboration, education, positive messaging and supporting alternative activities. Internship NCUFY is looking for 2‐3 high school interns to work over the summer with our Coalition Coordinator to plan youth outreach, develop teen communication strategies including website content and social media platforms and to represent NCUFY at community events over the summer. Interns will work part time during July and/or August for approximately 35 total hours and will be paid $10 per hour. Youth to Youth Conference NCUFY is also hoping to send up to four Greeley students, all expenses paid, to represent the Coalition at the 2017 Youth to Youth Eastern States Conference this summer. Youth to Youth is an organization that is a nationally recognized leader for engaging youth in positive change. The Youth to Youth Summer Conference offers tremendous leadership opportunities for high school students. Led by trained teens alongside adults, participants meet and befriend teens who are making positive choices from all over the country. The selected Greeley students will attend
interactive and informative workshops, hear nationally known speakers, learn skills to help themselves and others make positive choices, learn vital leadership qualities and skills they can use for a lifetime, and most importantly, HAVE FUN. The students who are selected to represent NCUFY will be expected to share their Conference experience with Coalition members to help the Coalition engage with our youth including in building substance‐free opportunities in our community. All New Castle residents aged 13 to 17 are invited to apply, although preference will be given to rising Greeley sophomores and juniors. All costs associated with attending the Conference will be covered by the Coalition. The Youth to Youth conference provides students interested in leadership, substance‐free living and prevention an opportunity to meet like‐minded students from other parts of the country, develop leadership skills and action plans. B. The NCUFY summer internships will be a valuable resource to NCUFY in developing teen communication strategies, programming and helping the community learn about the Coalition.
