Business schools worldwide have used the case study as a principal learning tool in management education to prepare students to step into real life situations, analyze circumstances and take action. There is growing interest in the case method amongst B-schools in India and this reinforces the need to write case studies. School of Business at Lovely Professional University, which is accredited by Accreditation Council for Business Schools and Programs (ACBSP), USA has taken this step to help educators, trainers and interested research scholars to develop case studies on real life business situations. Objectives of the Workshop The primary objective of this case writing workshop is to train the high potential faculty on case writing methodology and help them develop confidence & skills necessary for writing quality case studies that can be used by educators in classrooms. This is also an endeavor to develop a case writing culture in Indian BSchools. Participants of this workshop will learn how to: Approach business houses for collaborating on case writing Collect data and facts for writing the case Structure a case study Write a real life case on a business problem Prepare teaching notes for a case Publish a case study

Dr. Rajesh Verma is an Associate Dean & Professor of Strategy in School of Business, Lovely Professional University. Dr. Verma has always advocated the use of case study in class as one of the best methodology to bring real life situations into the class. He has written case studies on companies like JCT Ltd, Dainik Bhaskar etc. He has received Junior Research Fellowship from University Grants Commission (UGC), 2nd prize in National level marketing case competition for case study titled ‘Dainik Bhaskar - The Punjab Launch’ and is the recipient of research grant from UK India Education & Research Initiative (UKIERI) for a project in University of Northampton in UK. WHO SHOULD ATTEND The workshop is appropriate for all writing enthusiasts.This workshop is primarily meant for, though not limited to:
Faculty in academic institutions who would like to write and adopt the case method in their classrooms
Research Scholars/Doctoral students who would like to use the case method as part of their research
METHODOLOGY This hands-on workshop will be led by the instructor explaining all essential components of writing a case using a right blend of lectures, case studies, discussions, visit to companies etc. All participants on registration for the workshop will be divided into groups. Each group will be provided a mentor from School of Business who have written case studies and/or have attended such workshops earlier. Throughout the workshop, attendees will work together in an interactive space where they will learn from each other. CERTIFICATE OF PARTICIPATION/ A certificate of participation will be issued on conclusion of the workshop. PUBLICATION OF CASE The select cases developed in this workshop will be published in form of a book or will be submitted for publication to the ‘The Case Centre’ which was earlier known as European Case Clearing House (ECCH) . WORKSHOP FEE
Non-Residential: The workshop fee covering professional fee, transportation fee to companies and lunch is Rs. 2000 per participant for three days without accommodation.
Residential: The workshop fee covering professional fee, transportation fee to companies, accommodation charges and lunch is Rs 3000 per participant for three days (room on twin sharing basis).
