DCCK turns 5,000 lbs of wasted food into healthy meals! In the past weeks, DC Central Kitchen staff, volunteers, and students turned
5,000 pounds of salmon into 40,000 nutritious meals for DC’s homeless shelters and nonprofits. Thanks to a generous donation from the aquaculture experts at the Freshwater Institute in West Virginia, DCCK was able to provide delicious, proteinrich salmon cakes and steaks to our 80 partner agencies. Better still, members of our 102nd Culinary Job Training class perfected their deboning and filleting skills in preparation for their showcase at the Capital Food Fight!
The Capital Food Fight is only 2 days away!
DC Central Kitchen’s signature fundraising event returns on Thursday, November 12 with hosts José Andrés and Carla Hall.
