K-8 ELA Full Implementation Goal #1: Literacy Achievement Mountain View Preparatory will increase the percentage of K-2 students at Benchmark by 3.3% as measured by DIBELS from spring 2013 (71.3%) to spring 2014 (74.6%).

Goal #2: Literacy Achievement Mountain View Preparatory will increase the number of students in third through eighth grade meeting and/or exceeding state standards in reading by 3.3% as measured annually by the AIMS (or Galileo) assessment from spring 2013 to spring 2014.

Strategy One: Develop and implement Common Core curriculum: Action Steps: In PLCs, K-8 teachers will create and develop IB Units K-2 teachers will embed Common Core Reading Foundational Standards within daily instructional practices. K-5 teachers will have an increased focus on reading fluency within connected text. Teachers will utilize assessment data (e.g., Galileo, DIBELS and common assessments) to monitor student progress and drive instruction.

Strategy Three: Utilize instructional technology tools to enhance literacy achievement.

Strategy Two: Professional development will be provided by COCSD personnel and outside sources to ensure support for teachers in their ability to plan and deliver effective literacy instruction.

Action Steps: Teachers will actively participate in professional development opportunities related to Common Core implementation, Teach for Success and technology integration.

Action Steps: Teachers will actively participate in Instructional Shifts Professional Development (e.g., Key Comprehension Routines, Close and Careful Reading, Argument Literacy, Resource Alignment, Routine/ Analytical/Narrative Writing, and research project, Jr. Great Books).

Grade level PLCs will embed technology into IB Units to enhance teaching and increase opportunities for students. Action Steps: Teachers will actively participate in professional development directed toward Common Core implementation, instructional models and technology integration, common core standards, including mathematical practices, PARCC Frameworks and PARCC Evidence Tables.

Goal #2: Mountain View Preparatory will increase the percentage of students in third through eighth grade meeting and/ or exceeding state standards in math by 6.6% as measured by AIMS assessment from spring 2013 to spring 2014. Strategy One: Implement and develop curriculum based on the Arizona Common Core State Standards. Action Steps: K-5 teachers will continue to utilize, and refine lessons from, the district approved 2010 AZ Standards based on the inquiry math program through the use of quarterly pacing guides. K-8 teachers will continue usage of a district-wide daily math fluency program and will report students’ math fluency progress weekly to the site coordinator. K-8 teachers will utilize and document common, formative assessments aligned to the quarterly pacing/assessment guide to monitor student progress, design instruction, and for PLC collaboration.
