It’s March Pioneer families!!!! The school year is flying by! This Tuesday is Kids Day, and our Kindness Club will be volunteering to distribute Kids Day papers, be sure to have your donations ready at drop off! Thursday and Friday our 6th grade students will be traveling to Scout Island, to participant in their outdoor education program. Also this Thursday our Band will be performing at the Hanford High Presentation Center at 7:00 PM, admission is free. I encourage all our families to attend this performance and debut of our new band uniforms.

Also, a special congratulations to Hannah Nguyen (6th Grade) and Grace Nguyen (7th Grade) for taking 1st place at the Kings County Spelling Bee! These young ladies will go on to compete at the State Level. Congratulations to all of our Spellers for a job well done, and a special thanks to our Spelling Bee Coach, Mrs. VanNest. Also this Friday, Pioneer Middle School will be recognized at the Fresno State Kremen School of Education and Human Development’s 33rd Annual Conference on Character and Civic Education, as we accept our award for Character and Civic Education. This award represents the hard work of our staff and students, and I couldn’t be prouder. Thank you again for your continued support of Pioneer Middle School! Pioneer UESD Is Seeking To Fill A Vacancy On Its Citizens’ Bond Oversight Committee. Pioneer Union Elementary Citizens Bond Oversight Committee is seeking to fill the vacancy of its Committee member representing and currently active in a senior citizens organization. This organization could be any number of organizations including being a member of retirement community, a member of AARP (American Association of Retired Persons, or similar organization representing senior citizens. Background: In November, 2000, the voters of the State of California approved an amendment to the California Constitution (Proposition 39) which lowered the voter approval requirement from 2/3rds to 55% for school districts that provide voters a specific list of projects, requires a committee of appointed citizens to oversee the expenditure of funds and an annual performance audit and financial audit of the bond funds and bond projects. Proposition 39 provides that the Citizens’ Oversight Committee shall have at least seven (7) members who may serve up to three (3) consecutive terms of two (2) years each. Committee members are governed by the rules and regulations as set forth and contained in the CBOC bylaws. Purpose: To actively review and report on the proper expenditure of taxpayers' money for school renovations.

Provide information to the public on the progress of Bond projects and expenditures of Bond funds.
Ensure Funds are not used for teacher or administrative salaries. Receive and review copies of the annual performance and financial audits of Bond projects as required by California State law (Prop 39).
