This week marks an exciting event for Pioneer Middle School. Our Pioneer Marching Band will be taking their first group photo in our amazing new marching band uniforms. Words cannot express my gratitude to the Band Boosters and the Pioneer Union Board Members and District Office for making this endeavor a reality. The Band Boosters began working on this project in May 2015. Through the Booster’s fundraising efforts, they were able to raise close to $14,000, which is an amazing feat, but still significantly short of the $29,000 needed to purchase uniforms. However due to the generosity and unwavering support of the Pioneer Union School District and Board of Trustees, the remaining $15,000 was allocated for the uniforms. I am extremely grateful and proud of the efforts of all those involved and beyond excited to see them on our students. I would also like to invite all our Pioneer families to attend our Band Concert Thursday March 9th at 7:00 pm at the Hanford High Presentation Center, there you will be able to see these amazing uniforms on our proud students. This week in athletics we are continuing with our Spring sports try-out for Track, Softball, and Baseball, please see the Sport News section for more information. Congratulations to our Basketball teams for a great season, our Girls finished 4th at the SAL tournament and our Boys were 2nd! Great job everyone! Also, a special congratulations to our Jazz Band for their amazing performance at the San Joaquin Valley Jazz Festival last Friday! Mr. Bentley and our Jazz band represented Pioneer Middle School with pride. Also this Thursday and Friday our grade level representatives will complete in the County Spelling Bee. Pioneer UESD Is Seeking To Fill A Vacancy On Its Citizens’ Bond Oversight Committee. Pioneer Union Elementary Citizens Bond Oversight Committee is seeking to fill the vacancy of its Committee member representing and currently active in a senior citizens organization. This organization could be any number of organizations including being a member of retirement community, a member of AARP (American Association of Retired Persons, or similar organization representing senior citizens. Background: In November, 2000, the voters of the State of California approved an amendment to the California Constitution (Proposition 39) which lowered the voter approval requirement from 2/3rds to 55% for school districts that provide voters a specific list of projects, requires a committee of appointed citizens to oversee the expenditure of funds and an annual performance audit and financial audit of the bond funds and bond projects. Proposition 39 provides that the Citizens’ Oversight Committee shall have at least seven (7) members who may serve up to three (3) consecutive terms of two (2) years each. Committee members are governed by the rules and regulations as set forth and contained in the CBOC bylaws. Purpose: To actively review and report on the proper expenditure of taxpayers' money for school renovations.

Provide information to the public on the progress of Bond projects and expenditures of Bond funds.
Ensure Funds are not used for teacher or administrative salaries. Receive and review copies of the annual performance and financial audits of Bond projects as required by California State law (Prop 39).
