COUNSELING NOTES

FRESHMEN  This month, students will learn how to: - read their transcripts - track their graduation status & college entrance eligibility - create their Overgrad account (their own personal college & career guidance online planform) SOPHOMORES  The Grade 10 College Night is on Tuesday, March 13 from 5:30-6:30 p.m. in the SHHS library. Ms. Jorgensen will discuss the college exploration process to help students find their best fit.  PSAT 10 will be Wednesday, February 28 from 8:18-11:30 a.m. Deadline to sign up with Mrs. Rabanal for this free exam is February 15. ACT TEST DATES  April 14, 2018 - Registration Deadline: 03/09/2018 - Late Registration Deadline: 03/23/2018  June 9, 2018 - Registration Deadline: 05/04/2018 - Late Registration Deadline: 05/18/2018 SAT TEST DATES  March 10, 2018 - Registration Deadline: 02/09/2018 - Late Registration Deadline: 02/23/2018  May 5, 2018 - Registration Deadline: 04/06/2018 - Late Registration Deadline: 04/20/2018  June 2, 2018 - Registration Deadline: 05/04/2018 - Late Registration Deadline: 05/18/2018 JUNIORS  Plan to take the SAT Reasoning, ACT or ACT Plus Writing, and SAT Subjects (if necessary) during this spring. - Check test dates, registration deadlines, and complete the registration materials online at www.collegeboard.org or at www.actstudent.org.  Brown Bag Lunches will begin on Friday, February 9. Students will begin researching college options and applications.  Grade 11 College Night will be on Tuesday, February 27 from 5:306:30 p.m. in the SHHS library. SENIORS  Ask Ms. Linder to submit mid-year grades if any of the colleges to which you have applied require them.  Respond promptly to all requests from colleges to which you have applied.  Pay close attention to housing information you receive from the colleges you have applied. Some campuses require you to submit housing applications before you know whether you have been admitted. Read deadline information carefully.  Check the website and Haiku/Powerschool calendar for upcoming Napa Valley College placement tests, etc.  Parents, please encourage your student to apply for scholarships. See Ms. Linder for an updated list.

DECIMOS  Planeen asistir la Noche Colegial del Grado 10 el Martes, 13 de Marzo de las 5:30-6:30 p.m. en la biblioteca de SHHS. La Srita. Jorgensen discutirá el proceso de exploración colegial para ayudar a los estudiantes encontrar su mejor ajuste.  El PSAT 10 será el Miércoles, 28 de Febrero de las 8:18-11:30 a.m. Plazo para inscribirse con la Sra. ONCEAVOS  Planeen tomar el SAT Razonamiento, ACT o ACT Más Escritura, y SAT Sujetos (si necesario) durante esta primavera. - Revisen las fechas de examenes, plazos de registración, y completen los materiales de registración en línea en www.collegeboard.org o en www.actstudent.org.  Almuerzos de Bolsa Café comenzarán el Viernes, 9 de Febrero. Los estudiantes comenzarán a investigar opciones y aplicaciones colegiales.  Noche de Colegio del Grado 11 será el Martes, 27 de Febrero de las 5:306:30 p.m. en la biblioteca de SHHS.

DOCEAVOS  Pidan a la Sra. Linder que someta calificaciones de medio año si cualquiera de los colegios a los cuales aplicaron los requiere.  Respondan con prontitud a todas las solicitaciones por parte de colegios en los cuales han aplicado.  Presten mucha atención a la información de hospedaje que reciban de los colegios a los cuales han aplicado. Algunas escuelas requieren que sometan aplicaciones de hospedaje antes que sepan si han sido admitidos. Lean la información de plazos cuidadosamente.  Revisen el sitio de internet y el calendario de Haiku/Powerschool para los próximos exámenes de colocación del Colegio del Valle de Napa, etc.  Padres, por favor animen a su estudiante a aplicar para becas. Vean a la Sra. Linder para una lista actualizada.

The students of SHHS Gay Straight Alliance are growing heirloom tomatoes from seed for our “Rainbow Pack” tomato fundraiser.  Choose between three varietals for each color of the rainbow.  Plants will be ready to plant in your garden by April.  $6 per plant or $25 for a rainbow pack (six plants) To pre-order, email Lisa Luhn [email protected] or Sam Licina [email protected] by February 14. You will then receive an order form which needs to be submitted by February 23.

Los estudiantes de la Alianza Heterosexual Gay de SHHS están cultivando tomates de la herecia de semillas para nuestra recaudación de fondos de tomate “Paquete de Arcoíris”.  Escoja entre tres variedades para cada color del arcoíris.  Plantas estarán listas para plantar en su jardín en Abril.  $6 por planta o $25 por un paquete de arcoíris (seis plantas) Para reservar, envíe un correo electrónico a Lisa Luhn [email protected] o Sam Licina slicina@sthelenaunified. org antes del 14 de Febrero. Each year, the SHHS yearbook highlights students who are SHHS legacies. Legacies are students whose parent and/or grandparent graduated from St. Helena High School. If your senior is a legacy, please share your family picture for this section of our yearbook! Please email [email protected] with your picture, names of individuals in the picture and their graduation years. Pictures must be submitted in .jpeg format and cannot be taken with a phone.
