MAYFLOWER MOMENTS

MOMENTS

The new Management Committee was chosen by the residents on 24th June, via AGM. The turnout was phenomenal. SMF saw the highest number of votes ever casted. Many new residents volunteered to work for the new committee & pledged to the betterment of the society. Lunch was organized and despite the huge turnout; residents waited patiently and enjoyed the community time together. Though fully aware of the tough bench marks set by the previous MC, everyone is optimistic that the new committee will further strengthen and nourish the efforts made by the earlier MC. We wish the very best to the new MC.

Save water ... It doesn't grow on trees. One of the first appeals from the new President is to use water judiciously. All the suppliers of this area have increased the rates and all the Sobha apartment complexes in Bellandur have got the bills with increased 1 rates. The MC is working towards finding a long-term solution like RWH, recharging borewell etc.

The good guy = Spiderman

Henceforth, a spider VS a lizard ………………..Who do you support?

My favorite movie character

By Anumeha, Class 6, Vibgyor

Harriet Welsh is my favorite character from the movie “Harriet the Spy: The blog wars”. Harriet is a shy girl that has 2 best friends; Sport and Audrey. Sport’s name does not suite him as he doesn’t know how to play any sport. Audrey is crazy about chemistry; she even has her own lab. Harriet also has a nanny named Golly. Harriet is a spy; her eyes are always following someone or something. The next day in school Harriet finds out that they will be having elections for class blogger. Harriet’s friends (Sport and Audrey) nominate her for class blogger. But another girl named Marine also gets nominated. Harriet’s dad is a movie producer and when Harriet finds out her dad is producing the sequel of a really popular movie (that she doesn’t like) she gets furious. The movies name is “Spy Teen 2”. The actor in the movie is the main thing that Harriet hates. His name is Skander High. Will Harriet be able to write the blog with Spy Teen on her mind? I like Harriet because she doesn’t care if people make fun of her because she has a nanny. I wish I was like Harriet because I can’t ignore anything anyone says.

Book Review: Marty McGuire by -

Radhika Pradeep, Class 6th, NPS

Marty would rather spend recess catching frogs in the pond than playing dress-up with other girls in 3rdgrade. So when her teacher casts Marty as the lead (princess) in the class play Marty’s absolutely, positively sure that there’s been a huge mistake! But after a special lesson in the art of improvisation, she comes with her own plan to improve the play. Maybe a princess in muddy sneakers can live happily ever after, after all! Marty McGuire is written by Kate Messener. It describes each character in 3 detail. I enjoyed this book as it is hilarious, interesting & you can read it many times. I myself have read it 4 times. Rating: I would give this book 5 star out of 5 stars.

Thinking Aloud My Hobby -

July 2012

By Pranav Agrawal Class 3rd, DPS(East)

My hobby is cycling. Cycling is a good sport. It helps in removing stiffness from your legs. It also helps to strengthen and straighten your legs. Cycling is a sport which is included in the Olympics and the common wealth games which happen every four years. I like cycling very much because I just love the cold air rushing on to my face. I love the speed of my cycle, whenever I pedal faster and faster I feel the nature is moving faster and faster with me as if I am travelling in a train or a bus. These feelings are only some of my most awesome feelings. They are simply marvelous!! I also play chor police, hide n seek, catch n catch ......with my friends on my cycle. I just love cycling! Cycling is my favorite sport and it is a world- wide sport as well.

My Grandmother,

Sanjana Gopalakrishnan , Class 2, DPS

My grandmother’s name is Poornima. She lives in Indore. She is very thin. Her hair is very long. She wears salwar kameez. She is very kind. I love playing with her. Her birthday was on 11th March. We celebrated her birthday together in Bangalore. Her favorite cake is pineapple cake. She wore an orange sari on her birthday. We danced for her on her birthday. She looks very pretty.

Believe It or NOT

By Sejal, Class 7, DPS

The only law of cricket that has not had any changes or modifications is the length of the pitch. An elephant never forgets this is based on the fact that elephants can remember the exact place where they were born and often return to their birthplace when they are about to die. Animals behave different when it starts to rain-cattle gather close together, Bats fly lower, wolves howl, birds sing more, and fish take bait more eagerly. 4 Just hold your hand out with your palm facing upwards…do you know you are supporting a weight of 100 kilograms of air.

My Family

By Radhika Pradeep, Class 6th, NPS Koramangala

When the little star arrives,

I love to see my dad, He hates to see me mad.

during the late starry night.

I love to see my mum, She makes food so yum.

The animals bow before him.

I love to see my brother, He acts like a tiger.

Yes, he is there, Polar Bright.

I love to see my car, It takes me near & far.

When the hail and wind roar aloud,

I love to see my toys, They make me rejoice.

and the grey clouds block the sight.

I love to see my school, The teachers there are cool.

A star is there helping the lost.

I also love my home, It’s where I wrote this poem.

Yes, he is real, Polar Bright. When all the stars flee back home,

Balloons By Ila Manish, Class 5, NPS

one little star stays up there with might,

Oh so high! Up in the sky Balloons do fly!

and watches the Earth face dawn.

Red balloons, so big

Then, vanishes with a sudden flight.

Seeing them makes me want to do a jig

How, the children missed him untill,

Blue balloons, so small, But they never fall!

they could peek at the sky at dusk.

Oh so high!

Some know and some may not.

Up in the sky Balloons do fly!

This is the tale of Polar Bright.!

Harold and his Closet

By Tanvi Roy, Class 6 B, NPS HSR

Harold wanted a smart little pet, until came his new closet. For every night, around two, Harold would hear a frightful "Boo!". And a terrifying shriek he would never forget, all from the mysterious closet. 5

He felt it must have been a crying monster, an alien, or perhaps the evil clown dancer.

In the morning Harold would wake up by nine, "If it was a pet it wouldn't be mine!"

Holiday Reviews My Gangtok Trip

My Sri Lanka trip

By Prerna , Class 5 NPS Indiranagar

By Ila Manish, Class 5 NPS

Gangtok : We took flight to Bagdogra ( I know

This summer my cousins and me went to Sri Lanka! we drove from the Colombo airport to Kandy. In Kandy we saw the Famous Tooth Relic Temple, a gems museum, a beautiful spice garden and the unique Kandian dance! I especially enjoyed the dance because it was full of stunts and the rhythm was also a foot-tapping one.

it’s a funny name!! I heard the name first time too!!!) and then a taxi to Gangtok which is 120 Kms from Bagdogra.

First we went to Ganeshtok. I thought it was very right. I remembered my mom’s words “before we start anything remember Lord Ganesh” and this was perfect. We next went to Tashi point where the taxi uncle told we could see Kangchenjunga, the third highest mountain in the world. That is amazing! Due to being very cloudy we could not see the peak. Near Tashi point there was a waterfall. Between two hills, there was a small rope glider one. Papa took a ride on it. I was very tempted but was scared. I was tied with ropes and pushed out from one end. I enjoyed it. I felt safe. In the end wanted to do it again. Gangtok is very famous for Buddhist Monasteries. It has many old monasteries. It was a wonderful experience.

The next day we drove to Bentota. On the way we went on a river cruise on the Batu river through dense mangrove forests (at least they looked like forests). One stop in the river cruise was the Cinnamon Island where we saw how cinnamon was made into sticks. The next day we went to the beach and had fun at the beach for 2 hours or so! We also went for tube riding, jet sking and banana boating (sitting on top of a banana shaped boat ad getting tugged along by a speedboat). I must say it was a splendid trip!
