1. CALL TO ORDER/ROLL CALL – The meeting was opened at 6:15pm. 9 Board Members were present: E. Aubry, D. Garris, D. Hackett, A. Tootla, L. Graham, C. Simmons, B. Jett, S. Meeks, and E. Preston. 2 NEW BUSINESS a. Discussion and possible action on funding request from Vineyard Recreation Center not to exceed $3032 – D. Garris moved and E. Aubry seconded the motion. The vote passed with 8 yesses: E. Aubry, D. Garris, D. Hackett, A. Tootla, L. Graham, C. Simmons, B. Jett, S. Meeks. b. Discussion and possible action on the design and purchase of WANC promo items such as banners, yard signs and flyers not to exceed $5000 - This item is tabled. c. Discussion and possible action on collaboration with CD10 and sponsorship on Fresh Start not to exceed $2000 – This item is tabled. 3. OLD BUSINESS a. Discussion and possible action on NPG funding request to benefit Baldwin Hills Public Library not to exceed $1500. The item is tabled until the May Regular Meeting because the amount needs to be corrected to $2000. b.

Discussion and possible action on NPG funding request from Dorsey High School Women’s Basketball Team not to exceed $2088- L.Graham moved and B. Jett seconded. The vote passed with 8 yesses: E. Aubry, D. Garris, D. Hackett, A. Tootla, L. Graham, C. Simmons, B. Jett, and E. Preston. And 1 Abstention: S. Meeks.

Discussion and possible action on NPG funding request from Great Leap not to exceed $3600 – L. Graham noted that only $1982 remain for NPG projects. S. Meeks noted that Baldwin Hills Elementary is not making use of the $750 that we allocated. WANC partnered with Great Leap to co-sponsor the FandangObon Come Unity Fest. They request funds to partner on a more intimate event that focuses on sharing stories across the Asian American, African American and LatinX communities. The event is scheduled June 16 th for roughly 200 participants. Our Board asks that the event be moved to July or August so that more time can be allocated for prep. D. Hackett moved and S. Meeks seconded to approve NPG funding to Great Leap for a community event in July not to exceed $1982. The vote passed with 5 yesses: D. Hackett, A. Tootla, C. Simmons, E. Preston, and S. Discussion and possible action on NPG funding request from Read Lead not to exceed $4000 – Our neighborhood council has been in possession of the NPG since November but hasn’t moved on it. L. Graham learned that the organization is in transition. E. Preston moved and B. Jett seconded the motion to remove the item from the agenda.

Discussion and possible action on Development/Gentrification Town Hall not to exceed $2500 – The Outreach Committee is working to organize the event at Virginia Road Elementary. Costs might include food, AV equipment, and flyers. Several stakeholders have been involved in planning. May 31, 2018 is the projected date. This will be called a “meeting” instead of a “town hall event”. A stakeholder requests that the meeting be held only when the proper city authorities are able to be present. A city representative from the Planning department is slated to be present. L. Graham recommends that Abundant L.A. and Council of Infill Builders be invited. Damien Goodman is invited. L. Graham moved and B. Jett seconded to approve the action, not to exceed $1800. The vote passed with 8 yesses D. Garris, L. Graham, D. Hackett, B. Jett, S. Meeks, E. Preston, C. Simmons, A. Tootla. Discussion and possible action on increasing purchase amount of P/A system not to exceed $600 – This item is tabled.

Discussion on NPG funding request from PrettyToMe – The org teaches young girls the power of self-love. She is requesting funds to teach 2 health and wellness and sisterhood and lifestyle classes on Saturdays in 12 different middle and high schools. These workshops would be conducted at Dorsey High School. The Board recommends that they reapply for the NPG funds in the next fiscal year.

4. PUBLIC COMMENT two minutes per speaker –  Dynasty Taylor shared a flyer for the Summer Reading Program.  L. Graham is stepping down as Treasurer effective May 11 th. If any Board member is up for taking her seat, there is a Funding Training tomorrow night.  S. Meeks requests that all of the info for agenda items be included before submitting. 5. ADJOURN – The meeting adjourned at 7:44pm. The public is requested to fill out a "Speaker Card" to address the Board on any item of the agenda prior to the Board taking action on an item.
